Yes!

1. Bobby Smith
2. Ryan Walter
3. Wayne Babych

(Babych was a surprise pick over Bill Derlago who was expected to go top 2 or 3…and Derlago came out flying with 8 pts in first 9 games…but was injured)

Bobby Smith owns the Moosehead's so it's not a surprise somebody would know a weird stat about him. Dude's a legend around here.

Of all the years, that was not the one I expected. Thought I got it off rip with the Denis Potvin Calder year when both he and Lysiak were 1 and 2 in Calder voting

Very fun game to watch. As a Leafs fan I really hate how much I love the Habs core. Electric group of guys

I think the Habs so far this year have gotten a bit lucky in the sense that goalies have stolen games but the team has also just not quit (minus that 1 game we don’t talk about vs Minny), I’d expect them to play solid competitive games for the rest of the year, probably not a playoff team but they can stay in that race for a while I think

Probably not as interesting as Ovechkin vs Crosby in 2006…but still fun trivia (especially if Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli keep it up).

Never trade for him early; never.
He is UBER-injury-prone and you will be very disappointed if you do...boo hoo hoo.

Brown's playing vs. TBL

So Holland's fine with the 3.225m bonus that will be applied next year

Feeling the 3 more impressive things so far:

Bruins

William Nylander

Canucks

1 lesser impressive thing

League marketing (NFTs have real value. It is a shame that the concept of digital ownership rights was abused by con artists, the underlying technology is solid and beneficial. Functional digital ownership has substantial value outside of simply collectibles. Anyway, the nhl launch…is lacking the effort needed as well as the creativity. For them to have handed the keys of their brand over to whatever entity seemed to treat it as an afterthought. Probably business consultants.

The decision to bury him needed to happen way sooner. Doing it to avoid game #10 is an optical nightmare and with the Senators getting slapped with a lost first rounder for breaching a no-move clause, imagine what Bettman would do to a Canadian team with an actual chance of contending.

You can usually convince a team, at cost, to retain whatever salary on any inbound players that Edmonton may acquire between today and the end of next season. Those other teams are infinitely more unlikely to hand over a first round pick.

You've all heard of Boy Math and Girl Math. Get ready for Holland Math.

Like his DET rep main reason hes still in management.

You would think him forcing Yzerman out years ago would result in him being yeeted lul

I don't think he'd get penalized by the league, but it wouldn't make players and agents warm and fuzzy. I think Holland only cares about this year as he knows it's probably his last.

The main reason for him to ride it out is that he just dumped the coach and hopefully got a little jump and momentum building, why introduce yet another media- distraction right now? It'd be all they talk about for a week. Who needs that hanging over your team's head right now right after you tried to bring in fresh air? You don't air out a room then dump more crap into it. Holland missed the chance to do it early. Can't do it right after the coaching change, imo. Too big of a distraction. He just wants them to right the ship. The cap penalty next year is someone else's problem; he doesn't give half a $#!¥ about next year's cap.

Man did that car ride **** over Gaudreau

Guy should have stayed in CGY or at least went to NJ

CBJ just dont feel like the right team for him and while last year not noticed. This year wow.

Laine yea I dont blame him as to me they never seemed like a right fit but meh lets see. A reunion in WPG would be interesting though lul

St. Louis would love Patrick Laine and Patrick Laine would love Stl.

He is true kryptonite against stls teams structure, the most effective of all nhlers, way more than mcdavid and matthews, way more than Draisaitl and Pastranak. He shoots extremely hard and heavy with accuracy from the perimeter. He absolutely wrecks us. It’s comical. His unique strength cuts directly into the thing we -force- opposing players to do. (Is also y blues fans are legit nervous about Bedard even if they don’t realize it, they’ve seen his types of goals before, Bedard will be first star many St. Louis nights)

STL operates offense well when a shooter is heavily defined. They’ve often tried to replicate this when they are without due to injury or contract. Some examples are James Neal, Mike Hoffman, skaters who were on PP1 despite not being on the first line, rumored interest in DeBrincat, 2 stints of Perron. In all those cases, a shooter displaces a normal linemate during key offensive moments in stl, such as pp or 6-5. The better situation is no displacement because your shooter is good enough for 1st line min. Kyrou is fine, he is not the shooter that Laine is, would play with him.

I believe the team would add a shooter if a deal could be found. If Laine is available, he would get extreme opportunity with 2 playmakers in Thomas and Kyrou.

Jarmo and Doug are due to deal.

Edit: check out laines career totals vs opponents.

Stl in third place by 4 points but 10 games behind, +8, highest rate metrics. He’s dominant against us. Dominant like he scored 5 goals but should have scored 7 but hit the post. If his career against stl was his career against the rest Selanne would be in 2nd place. So why want him then? Of all teams, stl knows best. Pain is the best educator, teaches things that cannot be taught.

I remember when Avs fans were crying when they didn't win the 2017 lottery. Really sucks they got bumped down to fourth and landed this scrub.
