You're going to trigger a lot of Canucks fans including Gudbranson in a trade lol. We trade Jared freaking McCann for the guy, and then turned him into Tanner Pearson, who we just traded a 3rd to get rid of. There's some trade trauma there.

Although maybe a Peeke for Garland deal?

Peeke for Garland makes no sense for the Jackets, so no. This is the only way it would make sense to have garland coming to the Jackets. Salary is close and same term. Anything else and we would have trouble re-signing all young guys coming up.

Thats fair, but i think Canucks fans need to expect to not be interested in whatever is the return is for Garland.

Canucks aren’t trading a good player for an awful player with minimal cap savings

How does make no sense for the Jackets? Peeke's underlying numbers are horrible. Statistically and analytically, he's suited as a third pair dman. Garland is a top 6 forward. Plus, Jackets have a surplus of good, young dman, so not sure why trading a third pairing dman for a top 6 forward makes no sense for the Jackets.

Because of his cap hit and contract length. We have young guys that need to be re-signed in the next couple years and his contract would prevent us from doing that. We need more cap going to Van for tthe same term, which is why Gudbranson is the one that makes sense

Aaaa gotcha, makes total sense. That Guddy contract is horrible. No clue why your GM signed him for that long and for that much money.

yeah if we are to believe reports, then he had an offer of 4 x 3, and we had to add the 4th year to get him here. Not much of a defense, but i guess thats at least why he has the term.
