Bye bye Branny

Created by: Rooster
Team: 2023-24 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 11, 2023
Published: Oct. 13, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Given the makeup of our team, I think trading Branny is the right call. Joseph is the type of 3rd line player we’d be looking for if we deal him now (see Nick Paul to TB debacle). I’d also deal Kubalik - he’s an unnecessary piece. Finally, Dorion should be fired for this. This mess could have been avoided if he didn’t sign Tarasenko - Tatar at a couple mil would have been a great option.

Additional Details:
Branny / Jones would be a great pairing, and he’d compliment Korchinski at LD. And he’s young. Pretty cheap acquisition for a possible top 4 pairing LD.

I think the Hawks decline, they are loaded with young d-men, so I don’t see them paying a 3rd round pick to help Ottawa out of their cap problems.

Yeah, KK probably moves up with Jones and Valsic down with Murphy. KK has been even better than I thought he'd be. Very excited to get him #1LD responsibilities.

The idea of 2 offensive D-men paired together( not on the power play) gets me squeamish . I think both KK & Jones need a more defensive minded partner to be ready in case of a bad pinch. Hawks are not giving up picks for players right now.

Great point! I agree with that completely. I take back my comment. You're 100% right. That's more important for both KK and Vlasic's development.

Hawks decline. They aren't trading a pick for another left shot D man.

This has nothing to do with 1 game and everything to do with an incompetent GM who signed a UFA for big coin without locking up his RFA’s first and then realizing he did not have any coin left. This mess has been out there for weeks. Not to mention if and when Pinto signs he is not going to magically jump right into game action. If they rush him in he risks getting hurt again , people forget he missed an entire season 2 years ago.

It has everything to do with 1 game. If Brannstrom scored a goal and an assist you guys would still be calling for Joseph's head

You don’t get it , anyone who knows anything about Ottawa knows the only reason Joseph’s name was coming up was because of AA
V and term.
Most of the knowledgable fans on here understand that.

Shambles? I think Sens fans are trying to figure out how to get Pinto into the lineup. I don't see a whole lot of panic from this fanbase. Also...is Armchair GM not a site where you create roster and trade scenarios for your teams?

It actually does not. We are loaded a d now, and need an improved 3rd line. Brannstrom makes more sense as a tradeable asset. He also has value in the market as a potential top 4 dman.

Bro half the posts right now are Sens fans scrambling to try and make trades to free up space to sign Pinto

"Bro", it's likely closer to 100% of posts....as this is the last transaction that needs to be done this season.

I disagree on this since JBD and Thomson have not progressed fast enough, we are very THIN after Brannstrom. Hamonic is not very good anymore, Kleven is not 100% NHL ready and all of JBD, Thomson, Guenette, Matinpalo need more development

I loled at "Dorion should be fired for this"

There's so many things Dorion should have been fired for... What about Gustavsson for Talbot for example?

lol pure ignorance, Brannstrom was one of the best 3rd pairing D-men at 23 y/o and has clearly shown he could do more than that. He is not a cap dump

Just more ignorance. Just never understood why people choose to talk without knowing. I'm not going to start talking about another team like if I knew their whole context... so weird

I think a multi-series novel, ala The Hunger Games or Harry Potter, can be written about Dorion’s fireable offences. Gus is high up there. But to impulse buy on Tarasenko before locking up a core piece of your team is indefensible. The Duchene debacle is another one. So many…

And I think the Owl guy on here is just trolling, but he’s not very good at it. That said, I need to stop typing and get back to panicking along with the rest of our fan base.

Where am I "getting rid" of Brannstrom? And it seems like the Sens might not want to move him as well, at least not now until Kleven proves he's ready to be good at the NHL level.
