Fire Houle

Created by: jonh514
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 14, 2023
Published: Oct. 14, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Houle does not know what his job is, then let's get rid of him and bring in someone who does.

No one cares about winning games in Laval. We want to see our players with future NHL pedigree get a chance to shine and earn a spot with the team.

On Offense that's:

Roy, Farrell, Heineman, Kidney, Mesar, Davidson

On Defense that's:

Mailloux, Trudeau, Norlinder, Struble

Those 10 players need to be in the lineup every single game if not injured.

No offense to Maillet & Keeper and their ilk, but if they are playing in place of players with NHL upside, the coaches are doing a disservice to the future Habs.

Just for the ill informed. Who is Houle?
By the way all those NHLers playing for the AHL Laval team, lost to Abbottsford last night.

Houle is the coach in Laval. Though I don't know who you're referring to by "NHLers playing for Laval". Outside of Armia there aren't many players with NHL experience in Laval.

Houle is the Rocket coach. Some of those players were in the press gallery last night.

Yes they lost. It's ok if a team icing ~9 players playing their first AHL game loses though. It should not be about winning.

Losing is fine as long as there is development. OP is saying the wrong players are getting the ice time, which serves no purpose when losing.

Goalie who has never played an AHL-game acting as the starting goalie... He let in a bunch of soft goals.

Laval head coach.

I think the point here was he didnt start a bunch of the young guys like Mesar and Davidson over some no name career AHL'ers last night (yes in the one and only game they played this year that they lost - thanks for clarifying that) smirk

And good ice time. Mailloux needs to be on PP #1 for example. Davidson was so effing good in the Habs preseason and now he's in the press gallery?

C'mon!

They arent going to dump every rookie into the first game of the year that wpuld be stupid.

They arent going to sit the leadership core of the team that wpuld also be stupid.

They also play again at 3pm they will bebswapping out several players.

This is all pretty standard in the ahl.

Not to mention they also have their own playoffs and championship to play for at the end of the year

The first week of the season is chaotic for all lineups. Gee, I wouldn't worry about development, deserving players will be getting ice time in Laval. I'm guessing some of those current AHLer in Laval will be seeing time in the NHL this season....and do quite well.

I think Houle is more interested in winning than he is in developing. He's thinking about his NHL coaching job down the road.

Leadership comes in various shapes and sizes. Davidson did everything right in Seattle and was a huge part of that team. He was one of the best rookies in training camp. Many thought he made a case to make the Habs.

How is that not a part of your "leadership core". Tell me more about how Gallagher & Pearson are bringing value as veterans in MTL. Important veteran leadership right there....

The Calder cup would be great, but if winning it hinders 1 or 2 players development is it really worth it?

Are you just being intentionally ignorant? You know thats not how anybof that works

And no "many people" didnt think davidson had a case to make the habs. He was a very early cut.

Roy and Heineman should be on the Habs in place of Gallagher & Pearson. If they did not have contracts they would not be in the NHL.

Veteran leadership is important in the playoffs. On a team where players are not punished for making mistakes when they make the right read but fail to execute and playoffs are not a requirement, veterans are not all that important.
