I'm doubtful that Kubalik will play much more in the NHL. He's just not good enough to be on abn NHL PP unit and his only real asset is his slap shot. He hasn't been able to develop many other attributes to his game during his NHL career, but still. Cheers to him! He was a 7th round pick that made it to the NHL and made millions. That's likely a 1% change of occuring!

I do think you might be on to something though. Maybe WPG take a flyer on Mathieu since he's playing well. Mathieu and Kubs are "kinda" opposites. Kubs can get on the score sheet sometimes, but doesn't do much else. Mathieu hasn't always been able to get on the score sheet, but does other things decent. Now that he's getting points it should be easier to move him.

Might be crazy but maybe Ottawa should wait Pinto out

If they continue these strong performances why do this

His ask will go down by the game and he may panic and go oh **** and sign a cheaper 1 year deal (1.7m or something).

Its a gamble but might be worth it

I think Kubalik will always just be that offensive third liner who can give yah 15 goals and 30-40 points

Gives you nothing defensively but some stuff offensively

Like if a team needs some offense in the bottom 6 hes the guy. Ottawa I just dont see the fit. Detroit yes the fit was there but honestly a team who I could see him thrive in is Carolina. But thats a different manner

Rn yea I do think he gets moved but im not sure about WPG.

Damn, that's a bit harsh lol

His 45 pts would have been 2nd on the Hawks last season. He has averaged 24 goals per 82 games in the NHL. Only 77 guys have scored more goals since he entered the NHL... He's far from the perfect player but he has some qualities that should keep him in the NHL for a few more years.

And frankly, I don't think Ottawa is interested in moving Joseph at all anymore. I know I am not.

This is coming from a Hawks fan that actually really liked Kubalik and was critical on upper management for not giving him more PP time because he DOES have a snipe. The Hawks right now are 0-14 on the PP. Maybe they give in and change something? He needs to be put into a situation that caters to his talents. It's a top 6 role with high Ozone start% and have speedy playmakers that aren't afraid to go to the net on his line that allow for greater open ice and after he lays the boom shot...they're there to pick up rebounds. And the response to that should be...YEAH, obviously that's every single NHLers dream situation. He has a career 9 minutes on the PK. You gotta bring more to the table in a bottom 6 role.

He's the perfect middle-six scoring/PP option for a rebuilding team (like Detroit last year), plus you sell him at the deadline since teams always need scoring depth

He doesn't fit Ottawa needs right now, I have basically been saying that since July 26th (when they signed Tarasenko)

BUT The Hawks tried to sell him at the deadline...no takers. Like I hear you, but we've literally tried that with this player and it didn't work. We also simply let him walk from his contract because we couldn't even get anything for his rights.

Agreed and I acknowledge you've been saying this for a while. The Hawks are likely the literal best place for him...and we don't really want him. In fact, we even tried to trade him away.

He was having a major down season though, he's a bit of an enigmatic player, you can't be sure what you're getting from him, a bit like Hoffman and Duclair who always have less value than their stats would indicate

I think he'd be a good fit in San Jose this season. Sens trade them Kubalik for a 5th, Sharks give him 1st PP unit time and sell him for a 3rd at the deadline, or maybe even a 2nd depending on the market
