The Canucks can't afford to take on cap - that is the whole point of trading Garland - and I think you're undervaluing how they view Silovs.

Probably not. There are a few issues. Rakell is 30, with more years than Garland left on his contract. From an age standpoint, and contract term standpoint, it doesn't really make sense for the Canucks. Unless you're retaining enough to make it a significant bargain, but I doubt the Pens have the space to eat that much of his contract.

And that is all considering you probably have to remove Silovs and adjust draft picks to tinker with the value.

The key pieces the Canucks are apparently looking for with Garland are a RHD/cap space/another F on a cheaper or expiring contract. I think they are hoping to hit on one of those conditions, which Rakell hits none of...

I'd take the VAN trade - but Carter is going to block it. Not sure if VAN would take it anyway.

Not trying to be rude but that ARI is one of the worst I've seen in a bit. Hard no. Plus Pickering isn't close to being NHL ready

I understand that - but you can't pay a 2nd round pick just to dump your best LHD just for cap space.

You did retain on Carter, I know, I was just saying he blocks the trade. He has an NMC

Take out the 3rd going to PIT, and then VAN might say yes. Poulin honestly has lost almost all of his value at this point, development really stalled and even went backwards over the last 3 years.

Devils decline. Cap would have to be moved to make this work and I'd much rather keep Bahl and his team friendly deal.
NJDevils1317 and dgibb10 liked this.

Oh

That's just my opinion on the Pettersson trade though. Idk - maybe other people will agree with you. You don't have to make any changes just because of me haha.

But yeah - unfortunately getting rid of Carter is near impossible.

This is terrible all around and the fact you recommend moving rakell for Garlund is hilarious.

Also Jeff Carter quite literally for the billionth time, will retire a Penguin.
