How about this
at 21 years of age (d+3) whalstrom had 24 points in 73 games. 8 goals at ES, and 8 assists at ES so 16 ES points.
at 21 years of age (d+3) Laf had 39 points in 81 games. 13 goals, and 22 assists at ES.

Draft position aside, Laf is capable of producing points at even strength, is a top 6 winger, wahlstrom cant keep in a line up on the islanders who have significantly less offensive talent than the rangers. A first doesn't help the rangers, and neither does a player who cant stay in the NHL lineup, and we're not trading someone like laf within the division let alone to the islanders.

If it needs more juice, that's fine. Also, get the division take. Walstrom is the kind of player who'd fit well on a line with Panarin and Chytil or Mika. Maybe Laf will break out this year with what seems more top 6 ice time with Laviolette but he seems not the same player on RW.

Heres the thing with all the laf trade offers, not just this one.
Laf is a top 6 winger, on a less than 3m a year deal for this and next year.

The rangers are in win now mode with almost zero cap space.
You want a top 6 player, you need an offer that replaces that players production, while also giving us an incentive to move the player, in case they break out.

So to acquire Laf it would need to be, a top 6 player making less than 3m a year (for multiple years) + an A prospect and likely a first.
Which is gonna meet alot of derision for that amount, but its likely what it would take to move him, especially when it looks like he's finally getting a legit shot.

Funny thing, I know what it's like to be a fan of a Dolan owned team. Nothing more delusional than having hopes for his team's lol

Part of this is having more cash for Kane. Kane will supplant Laf if he re-signs there. There will be multiple suitors for him but I think it would be a slam dunk return with just a bit more cap space for NYR to work with.

I dont get the sense that the rangers want Kane, or that Kane will be the answer in any way shape or form. Kane looked terrible last season, just had surgery that only a few nhl players have had before and none looked good in their first season post surgery.
The rangers top 9 in their first 5 games, have had some great underlying metrics including laf on the 2nd line. The biggest issue has been the 4th line, and wheeler. Laf hasn't done anything to drop him off that line.
I get that Kane is a media darling and the best American Born player, but I dont want to add him, let alone at the cost of Laf. Theres win now, and then theres win now but also burning any chance of winning later.

Or... maybe just maybe if you used your brain. We don't want/need to give up on a 21 year old who puts up 40 points on the third line! astonishing statement right!

Lol. I like Laf but it's obvious he's not meant to play RW. He also skated the 6th most minutes per game last season of forwards so he's getting time and not bottom 6 ice time.

Laf at this point isn’t likely to be more than a complimentary middle 6 winger. Giving up a 1st for him makes no sense

So you can disparage the Rangers but can't take it when it happens to the 0-52 and counting Canucks. Grow up maybe troll.

Lol it doesn't? But it's pretty obvious you had to try and find something outside the post subject to make yourself feel better.
