So why are the Leafs paying for a cap dump?

Canucks do that. Then retain 50% on him and trade him for an RD who can actually defend to a team that needs more offence on the back end.

Canucks already have to watch Tyler Myers play hockey, I don’t think they can handle Klingberg

Not sure that’s how I’d describe Klingberg at this point in his career.

Also, why would St.Louis do this?

It's he not even producing offence now?

Instead of those worthless late round picks, I think a first for both is more reasonable. Blais @ 500K is great value especially considering how well he’s been playing as of late. Also, the Blues probably won’t be selling unless they’re out of the playoff picture come TDL

I was objecting to the actually defend part. His EV Defense last year was the bottom of the league.

He does have 4 points in 5 games. He does produce offence at a high rate

Sorry maybe I want clear. I mean the Canucks retain 50% of Klingbergs contract and trade him to a team that needs offence on the back end for ~3m Rd that can defend since they would be left with that much cap space.
