Because Laughton doesn’t fit the rebuild timeline, and they need to make room for their kids in the top nine. Meanwhile, getting a first for a guy who seems destined to play on the fourth line (when they can contend) seems like good value. Robertson is whatever, personally I’d be looking for a RHD instead but I think it comes down to will another team beat that offer?

Guys who can score 20G who are signed on good contracts are valuable. guys who are UFA get 1st at the deadline. Robertson is a walking injury. You should be able to get a RD for him. why settle for toronto nothing when others would give you more.

Anytime the Leaf fans start push a prospect as a future HOF player they are dying to dump him. the day they trade Robertson the leaf fans will all say how much of a bum he is.
