Posted this one a bit too quickly. Calgary can't afford to do the retention since that'd leave them with just a 20 man roster plus they'd have to call Dustin Wolf up to replace Vladar and would have to send someone else down to do that.

Calgary could keep the retention and replace Dube or Vladar with a pick/prospect then call up Wolf + Zary and trade the other player elsewhere for another pick/prospect.

My bad Calgary can't afford to do the retention since that'd leave them with just a 20 man roster plus they'd have to call Dustin Wolf up to replace Vladar and would have to send someone else down to do that.

Calgary could replace one of the other two players with a pick/prospect and trade the player elsewhere for another pick/prospect.

Oops. I should have waited for this one, I replied in the last one lol.

Well, as I wrote there, I think Nylander is worth a fortune, and in the Jason Robertson territory in skill and value to a team. I'm not sure myself how to suss out the value between him as a rental and as an extended guy.. *scratching head*

Either way the answer will be no. A bunch of B players for an A+ player just doesn't make sense for Toronto. I've got faith in Woll and don't believe Vladar is an upgrade. Tanev would be a decent rental add at the deadline. Dube doesn't have nearly the offensive ceiling that Nylander carries. In this case, quantity definitely doesn't equal quality.

I think the biggest question is what does TOR do if Willy didn't re-sign by the TDL? This wouldn't be a bad haul if that's the case; but would CGY still do it?
