Hmmmm. I don’t think the Leafs are losing all these trades. You may be adding a bit too much value to the Leafs. I personally think the Leafs win most of these trades.

No offence Herb but you make the same response with no detail every post. Please tell what’s so funny, so we can all have a laugh too.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the prospects you're proposing outside of the stats I just looked at, I'd hate it if the Flames traded Andersson for that
Just my opinion though

I appreciate the comments, but no feedback. Why doesn’t it work, who adds? Just curious to other peoples reasonings! Ty

Lol I appreciate your honesty. Our top D and LW prospects along with Brodie, 1st and 3rd. Still not sure it’s enough. Getting Rasmus would be like getting another Rielly but RD. Just thinking if Cgy can’t sign Lindholm, Hanifin and decide to rebuild.

Leafs just aren’t going to trade lily unless the offer is so good they’d be stupid not to say yes it needs to be a massive overpayment and this is not that

Fair enough and understandable. I’m just trying to address the Leafs needs. Size and physicality in front of the net and corners. IMO of course

Herb has a god sense of humour. trading 2 prospects and a cost controlled roster player along with a 3rd is way too much for Dach the bandaid. now, please tell me why you think this is a good trade for the leafs

You want an explanation, its a p*** poor return for Dach! Think of it this way, what is a young top 6C who has the skill to be a top line center on one of the best contracts in the league worth? Yes he has injury concerns but that doesn't make him a throw away, would you expect to get that return for Tavares?! No you wouldn't, that is what Dach's ceiling is with injury concerns aside and any injury concerns are offset but the high value of his contract anyway, forget that he is signed for 2 more years after this one and is still an RFA when that deal expires. Minton and Robertson are ok pieces but Jarnkrok and the 3rd offer no substantial value when compared to a young top 6C with a ceiling of Tavares

Why would PHI want Klingberg? And why would they give up a 2nd for him? Theyre rebuilding and dont want a UFA, let alone an offensive minded dman who is so bad defensively, Toronto is trading him already.

Somebody might have Klingberg for a 2nd, (as injuries set in), but its not a rebuilding team.

And a quantity deal for MTL probably doesn;t work as they have plenty of quantity and FAR better prospects than the two midlevel guys you are offerring.

A 6’4”, 215lbs C age 22, got 38 points in 58 games last year on Montreal. Love the way he plays personally. He is great in his own end and can put the puck in the net. I think he is a few years ahead of Minten and the Leafs are ready to win now. People keep saying Jarnkrok is cost controlled but would you really pay him more than 2.1M?

For the PP, Flyers are making a run, they are 3rd in the Metro right now. Lol

Love the passion. Herb is happy^ telling me it’s a bad deal for the Leafs. I think Dach will be a top C too, sent good prospects for him but maybe not enough. 👍

Its 6 games in, by that same rationale, Leafs should be selling because their defense/goaltending has been bad. Way too early.

Ultimately some of them dont look at whether the other team would have any interest (PHI and MTL deals) and some of the others are okay, but theres some issues, for example: samsonov at his current level of play as an expiring UFA will not have good value until someone is desperate for a goalie and Liljegren in his 6th pro season, if hes not arrived as a top 4 guy in TOR to the point that youre trading him, he doesn;t carry huge value either.

I’m thinking if Philly doesn’t make the playoffs, they can flip Klingberg at TDL for probably more than Seeler. I agree with you that there is no real good reason for MTL to trade Dach. I just like him but probably didn’t offer enough for him to make make MTL interested.

My apologies, thought he was saying it was bad for the Habs. I understand why he may think it is bad for the Leafs given Dach's injury history and the fact that the Leafs have two very good top 6C enters already but he doesn't account for Dach's ceiling or contract. Also he is a Leafs fan so he has a deep rooted aversion to admitting any Habs player might look good in Blue and White lol jk.

At first glance, the Philly, Montreal and Winnipeg trades are very easy passes for those teams, they don't really consider the non-Leafs needs or wants at all. Don't see why Toronto would do the San Jose trade and the Calgary trade seems like a rich return for Andersson, but I don't think its enough to get Calgary to accept considering they aren't rebuilding.

Here is the problem with each trade:
Retention
2 better players going the wrong way
Leafs win or even
Minten has a higher ceiling and Jarnkrok has a lower downside than Dach, who can't stay healthy
Holmberg is younger, cheaper and might be more valuable, especially bc he was a centre, Leafs are also giving up more than the Jets did, with 1 less year

Montreal takes that in a heartbeat... Minten is cheaper, younger, more cost-controlled, another big piece who for sure can play PK and can stay healthy vs Dach... and Jarnkrok can pot 20 and could be flipped, especially only at 1.05 for 3 years
