Saving Hertl

Created by: yikes
Team: 2023-24 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 26, 2023
Published: Oct. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
EP40 extends for 9-11m (Canucks would still be under the current cap if he’s around 9-10).

I have no idea what the Hronek extension would be but I doubt it would smash the projected cap for next season.
Is he going to be more? I just haven’t seen anything mainstream that suggest he’s going to be in for a huge payday.

Labancs going to cost league min-1.5m MAX
Laffy and Blueger and DeSmith I would doubt are going to see massive raises unless they play fantastic.

Not saying the Hertl trade is realistic but it is possible (financially). Save him from us please.
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Garland, Conor
  2. Myers, Tyler
  3. Pettersson, Elias
  4. Silovs, Arturs
  5. 2024 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Garlands value is around a late mid round pick/ depth player due to his cap hit and not exactly being a cap dump but not being a desirable contact.

Myers has zero - negative value (at this point dumping him would cost a 2nd - 3rd + assets at this point in the season)

Taking on both should essentially equal a 3rd + prospect in value due to the sheer money being moved and Garland essentially loses all value in this transaction due to the financials.

Why is this considered trolling? Trading Hertl for a first, suspected late and with protection, 2 cap dumps, a decent defensive prospect and a pretty good goalie prospect. That seems like pretty good value for Vancouver.

Hertl is financially feasible but Canucks shouldn’t be trading away a first for another aging player on a big contract. If Canucks didn’t have miller already this could be considered.

We had Hertl in Horvat, we dealt him to make the team better, I think getting Hertl would be saying that dealing Horvat was a mistake

Suspected late? Sorry, but who other than Canucks fans are gonna expect their 1st to be late?

They probably mean picks 20-32, not necessarily 28-32. That being said I don't think the pick being late is relevant since they aren't getting a top 10 pick, and most of the teams that might finish 11-15 are likely not looking to add him. The only teams that I can think of wanting to acquire him would be the Bruins and the Capitals. So, maybe they get a mid-first-rounder from the Capitals if they manage to move out of a bottom 10 spot with his addition. In short, the entire package is going to matter not just the strength of the first-rounders since they are open to trading Hertl.

Because Silovs and D-Petey are both prime prospects and Vancouver doesn't need to move Miller away from Centre not like said above need an aging player. 23-27 is the range, nothing above.
