Term’s an issue here. Neither Jenner nor Provorov are signed anywhere near as long as Norris is. Besides, Colombus already has their 1C: Fantilli.

Ottawa declines. I’d only consider moving Norris if the offer starts with Jiricek

Wait until the summer and throw the bank at Edmonton for Leon after they flip again.

Not a bad idea… but your giving up a guy like Fantilli and at least a 1st and then having to pay out 12.5 mil or more for Leon

I would argue C depth is not an issue in this team it’s goaltending and Elvis contract that’s an issue!

No way would anyone give a top end piece like Fantilli even for Drai. It’s one year left on the deal. I do think Edmonton would take one of Johnston or Sillinger, Peake, Cuelemans, and two firsts.

Drai has a NMC, if he is fed up with EDM by next offseason and says he won’t resign then he’ll also have full control of where he does go and I doubt it’s Columbus. Then again nobody thought Johnny Hockey would pick Columbus…

Exactly and the jackets have been very aggressive in trying to improve that team now. You have pieces to deal that most teams don’t have. I think other than Fantilli and Jiricek, everyone else from your youngsters should be up for discussion including what will still be a pretty good 2024 1st.

I don’t think you’re being reasonable. Arguably the 2nd best C in the leauge (top 5 easily) who is under 30 is going to cost a LOT even for 1 year. IMO even his signing rights at the end of next season could cost a 1st. These types of players never become available and to get one will cost borderline ridiculous and 2-1st plus Fantilli might not even be enough!

If it was me I’d pass TBH. CBJ are building a good team and in 1-2 years will be playoff contender with a good young core of D and Forwards.

Nahh he’s a 1C on about 1/2 the teams in the leauge. He’s still young and very skilled 2 way threat.

Not with 1 year left though. If he had 2 years then anything is on the table. Also who is going to grade for him that has more nhl ready cal controlled players than Columbus? A trade for Drai is either futures heavy or a few high end veteran pieces straight up from another team trying to contend how.

Very counterproductive for Ottawa… They are trying to open their window of contention and would trade a 1st line C for Boqvist, a 2nd and a 30 y/o

Don’t like the value at all as well

He’s a 2 way threat! Good on the PK and PP is averaging .71 PPG and is only 24 JUST entering his prime! Those numbers are very likely to go up from this point. He is a legit 30-40 Goal, PPG potential and that’s my expectation for a healthy Norris and those are #1C numbers.

Fully healthy he provides good D and scoring. And while he may not put up the numbers to be a top 10C I thinks he’s capable of being a top 30 C point wise and the D would then push his value up a bit more too.
Would he be an Elite 1C? Likely no, but a team could win the cup with a 1C like him. I think he’s close to an Eichel IMO honestly. As a sharks fan him and Stuzie for the Karlsson years was such a huge mistake.

Right now or in a couple years? Right now he’s absolutely not better than Norris.

I’d compare him to another Elias Lindholm.

See if take Norris over Lindholm every day of the week!
Maybe I’m biased.

I would too simply by the age difference but the two players are very similar.

The problem hockey fans will have for evaluating Josh Norris is that he didn’t really play since he was 22 years old… Before last season, he scored 47 goals in his last 91 games plus very good defensive metrics. He’s not for trade, he’s just getting back and is over PPG with 3 goals in 4 games…
