As a leafs fan No way would we take huge who has 4 years left at 6 mil and give up a first round pick and bozak.

any particular reason you wouldnt want a former first overall pick, bonafide 2nd line centre who is under control for 4 more seasons? you trade a 3rd line centre, a depth forward and a 1st, which sounds , way more than reasonable

They didn't have the cap space for Marleau either, but they seem content on carrying over bonus overage

Because RNH would be the 3rd line C on the leafs without bozak and 6m is way too much for a 3rd liner. The leafs paid big for Marleau for leadership, something Nuge doesn't bring more than any other player on Toronto. Leivo has untapped potential, if Bozak has another good season he might be a promising deadline deal, and you're taking a first away from a rebuilding team.

Not to mention one of Nylander or Marner are expected to become centermen, so that would effectively put RNH at the #4 spot in Toronto in 2 years time.
