I’d prefer the Toffoli replacement to be…Toffoli. Buch is good, but we may have better options at that price.

I'd even be willing to retain since it is his last year

That is not a good Buch return. Why do we want a 160 pound RD? The Leddy trade is also horrid.

Leddy would be on the 3rd pair in Boston. The Bruins FO hopefully learned their lesson about giving 3rd pairing D men too much money, and at this point their top 4 D seems set for years to come barring injury or significant regression.

You can keep Buch, Devils replacement for Toff will likely be Toff. Hugh Down grade for the devils. Also Buch will be on the 4th line on the devils in 23/24. Still have to give Holtz time to develop cuz of last year they kinda ruined his development.

That’s a crazy assessment tears of joy there are very few teams in the league who have 2 better wingers than Buchnevich. Suggesting he’d be on any 4th line is wildly misguided

At that price I'd be all over Buch. With an extension preferably.

Devils accept, hopefully with an extension. It would likely be the 2025 1st.

I'm really high on Casey, but I understand the hesitation with an undersized defenseman. I was happy that we sent Mukh for Meier instead of Casey, but that's a hot take since Mukh is big and scores a lot in pro leagues

He’d be the devils 3rd/4th best winger imo. Pretty even between him and toff

It's debatable, or at least it was at the 2022 draft. Trikozov is sick; I was hoping for him, Casey, or Hutson when we made the Casey pick.

Bos doesn’t need Leddy. They’ll take Schenn or Parayko though.

I think it’s pretty fit based on the rest of the line between Meier, Bratt, Buchnevich and Toffoli. I’m not too sure you can distinctly pick one from another. One thing about Buchnevich that I think is a bit different from the others is he’s more of a two-way player than any of the others. But again very subjective.

I’m not arguing he wouldnt possibly be on some second lines. But to say he’d be a 4th liner because Holtz is young is a just wildly bad take. Not from you, but from the post I originally quoted.

Holtz imo needs to stay in the top 9 for his development regardless of where he is as a player talent wise right now. I don't think palat would do well in a 4th line role. Maybe mercer could go down, or he could center the 3rd line and have haula play 4th line. A few people have suggested that Meier and Mcleod would play well together.

I agree they're pretty similar, but Meier and Toffoli are also very strong defensively, and I think bratt is the most electric offensively. Like you said it would just depend on fit
