Vladar will need to at least be close to a .900SV% goalie to get an asset from LA.

i like the thinking but krug 32yo 4x 6.5m is bad but hub 30yo 8x 10.5m is beyond awful (even retaining 3m). if CAL not going to resign hannifin might as well get something for him - even if its a 2nd and dumping hub contract

TML if they think Tenev is piece to push to SC, then they should dump 1st for a rental.

Is Lindholm resigned? CAR not trading that draft capital for rental

If the Flames are retooling and project to have 30+ million in cap space this off season what good comes from selling off Huberdeau for pennies on the dollar? Hes been phenomenal with Pelletier, Coronato, Duehr, he doesn’t want to suck as bad as he’s sucked so why not ride it out through a retool and if he continues to stink then less wins and higher picks. The whiney part of the fan base should be thrilled

It’s a hypothetical, just was trying to brainstorm how to get out of one of the albatross contracts, so it’s was an interesting result. I thought of parayko but wasn’t too sure about that in the end. Krug would save more money in the long term for the flames, despite the retention. Plus I wouldn’t even consider myself a flames fan, it’s just such a unique situation.

For sure. I get that and it’s a unique conversation going forward, at this time though as crazy as it sounds he’s worth more on the flames roster and in the room than he is in a trade. If the flames are looking to pick high and build up young talent there’s no need to move on from Hu ordeal with the amount of cap space they have coming up. If they were pushing for a playoff spot I would spend an arm and a leg to drop him at this current pace, but if they were pushing for a spot you’d have to imagine Huberdeau wouldn’t be on pace for 40 points

Like I said it a more hypothetical, and I view Carolina extending him, just forgot to mention it.

Not sure why LA would do that. At least they'll be rid of Copley's contract at the end of this season and can put his money towards signing a real goaltender.

Copley isn’t doing much better, plus he’s younger.

lindholm resigned then I'd think CAR would do that.

having 22.5m for years between 32yo coleman, 33yo kadri, and 30yo hub is tough.

So the Kings should pay assets and more money to still have poor goaltending? They can just call up Rittich, who at least had serviceable numbers last season.

I'd expect that, I just know the blues have a log jam of bad contracts on defense, and Huberdeau being 3 mil retained playing with Thomas/Kyrou could and would help him return to some form of what he was. Plus with the Cap going up it would even out, and they get a much better defenseman in return for Krug.
