Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Hathaway, Garnet ($1,175,000 retained)
  2. Seeler, Nick
Additional Details:
Phili gets a D who if he could stay healthy would b a fixture in the top 4 (likely top 2). At this stage of their rebuild it's clear they are willing to take risks and this is a good one to take.
PHI
  1. Timmins, Conor
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Toronto gets a solid 4LW and a DFD
2.
TOR
  1. Joshua, Dakota
  2. 2024 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
For Vancouver they get another top 4 D. Whatever criticisms you have of McCabe. He is viewed as a top 4 guy, went for a 1st and 2nd at last year's deadline. For Vancouver who have just 5 NHL D this is a massive move.

Canucks fans will also be upset with Joshua included here but he's on the verge of waivers, hasn't looked good. They have gone from the checking 4th line be thrived in last year to a 4th line that is meant to play like a 3rd line with Garland and Suter and he hasn't fit.
VAN
  1. McCabe, Jake
Additional Details:
Toronto moves on from McCabe who didn't fit into the role we needed from him. Get
3.
TOR
  1. Kartye, Tye
  2. Oleksiak, Jamie
Additional Details:
Bertuzzi becomes the second biggest offensive threat in Seattle with a chance to lead his own line which seems to be the best role for him.

Seattle also makes this move with the long-term in mind. Oleksiak hasn't looked great this year. There is risk in 3 more years of him at almost $5M given he's already in the wrong side of 30.
SEA
  1. Bertuzzi, Tyler
Additional Details:
Toronto gets a DFD and moves on from Bertuzzi who clearly can't be the third wheel for the top 2 lines.
4.
TOR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Winnepeg gets a guy with top 6 potential which they need.
WPG
  1. Domi, Max
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (TOR)
5.
TOR
  1. Weegar, MacKenzie
Additional Details:
Calgary moves Weegar before the contract going till he is 38 becomes negative value.

They get Klingberg to help their PP this year. Niemla and 1st is about what they would get for Weegar given his contract in a rebuild (more than Karlsson got). Seems like a win win. They get value for selling Weegar without needed to completely give up on this season.
CGY
  1. Klingberg, John
  2. Niemelä, Topi
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
6.
TOR
  1. Faksa, Radek ($1,625,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Dallas saves cap and swaps 4th liners.
DAL
  1. Gregor, Noah
Additional Details:
Toronto gets a PK guy who is good at faceoffs.

What do you think a fair return would be for Weegar.

He's a top 2D on a team likely about to blow it up signed at over $6M till he's 38.

Anyone who is buying him is getting 3/4 years of value then 4/5 years of a cap dump.

Weegar’s not available but he’d be quite a hit if he was

We don’t know that, it’s still too early to tell for the Flames but even Rebuilding Teams still need Veteran Leaders

We don’t know that either, plenty of Defensemen play well till they’re 35-38 and some til they’re 40+, so we’re not worried about his contract and $6.25mil is likely going to be considered cheap or at least reasonable in 5+ years

The idea that McCabe isn't worth a 1st is ludicrous. What happened in 6 months to drop him from a 1st+2nd to not eve. Worth a 1st?

No it is not far fetched.

A. You had to have Chicago retain 2 million of half his salary.
B. At the deadline temas in contention overpay. Canucks not in playoff contention and if they make the top16 doubtfulthey are cup bound.
C. McCabe does not look good this year, 7 games, nompoints and Minus. He does not fit right now.
