    Bro, we literally have Sanderson.

Maybe the team looks to swap Chabot for a two-way RHD in the offseason, but talking about tanking while being 4 points out of a playoff spot on November 6th is bananas.

Im not saying tanking but we need to take a RD with one of the 2 1sts maybe even both picks

A RHD that you draft is probably going to take a year or two to develop. Maybe even longer- the Devils took Nemec two drafts ago #2 overall and he has yet to play a game for them. Defense in general takes a long time to develop into an impactful NHL player unless they are elite top of the line talent. Are the Sens willing to wait 2-3 years for a top 4 RHD they draft to develop? They need that guy now.

What you need right now very well may change in two years. Frankly for the Sens it probably needs to change sooner than that. If a RHD is the best player available in both positions then draft him. But otherwise, they should take the best player.

    Dickinson is LHD.

Rest don’t appear to be two-way top-pair types.

Trading Chychrun or Chabot could be option. Not sure who to target though.

    Signing Pesce maybe?

Depending on where FLA and PHI pick in the draft, 1 if not maybe even 2 of those guys will be drafted by Philly this year. Maybe even before you get to pick either time.

    He is lefty…must be typo.

Under the radar RHD that may develop well: Ryan Ufko, Vincent Iorio…and my favorite sneaky pick, Ian Moore. Brock Faber is probably unattainable, but maybe there is scenario where OTT sends a center or offensive dman (they need pp qb) and he could be on table. Would cost a lot though. Or do something crazy…like move Stützle for Jiricek/Johnson .

I knew Faber would become this good. He was such a good steady 2 way RD for Minny and team USA

I remember reading a scouts take on how to judge young dmen for modern game, and they said, first and foremost, they can defend with their skating. It’s one thing a bunch of those gopher dmen did well (Faber obviously, but Lacombe, Johnson and Koster too)

Also, Ian Moore is very much cut from the same cloth as Faber…and was deployed in similar ways for USA junior team. A couple of the best talent evaluators for young dmen, Ryan Hardy and Jim Tortarella, have both always been super high on him. Hardy was former GM of Chicago Steel when they were atop USHL for years. Many good NHLers passed through there under him. And Tortarella (John’s brother) was former UNH coach and now defensive coach at Harvard who was big part in developing Fox, Marino, Pesce, TvR. Both guys love Moore.

Indeed. Closes gaps as well as anyone…and does it with skating. Now that he is adding quick stick, will be top defensive dmen for years.

We definitely are taking a RHD with one of those picks and the other will either be a 2nd RHD or a center. We have too many LHD and RW already in the prospect pool.

    Bro, we literally have Sanderson.

We have Chabot and Chychrun who have routinely been ranked Top-20/30 by all kind of hockey sources

We have Jake Sanderson who is already quite good and probably on his way to become a Top-10 D-man

We also have Zub and Brannstrom who are excellent #4-5

I mean, if we can't do anything with that kind of personnel, it should be quite evident that the problem is not the players. A bunch of teams are playing better team defense with half the talent.

The problem is more that none of Brannstrom and Kleven are RHD

If Kleven was, you trade Brannstrom for a young 2-way Top-9 forward and go :

    Sanderson - Zub
    Chabot - Kleven
    Chychrun - JBD
    Guenette

Roll the 3 pairings at ES and the big 3 D-men would get their additional ice-time with special teams and various game situations.
