I'm surprised Bergevin balked at this contract, if those were indeed Radulov's terms.
I'd prefer 1 less year on the term, but the money's about right and I wouldn't consider that 1 year a deal breaker.

On principle, I'd rather not give any kind of term to a player based on a one year performance. Radulov was going to get a contract like this regardless though. Maybe when you are taking a chance on a player you should try to get them under a 2 year contract in case they do work out. Give them more time to get attached to the team and to gauge their performance for more than 1 season.

Bergevin's offer was 5yr 6.5per. The difference is net value because of QUEvsTX taxes. Radulov took money over equal term with the Habs.

Dallas now has $4,718,333 in cap space with Faksa, Ritchie, and Oleksiak all in need of new contracts.

Considering what some others got this was good for Dallas, cheaper than Jumbo Joe at 8M, though about twice what Ducks gave Eaves. I"m thinking Stars are back in Post Season this time around helping to knock out Nashville smile.

Good signing, Dallas is looking threatening. The central should be fun to watch this year.

They are all RFAs. Dallas can just give them cheap deals. It's not like they have much say. I don't know if any of them have abertration rights though.

Even if they do doubt they would get that much of a raise to break the bank on them. Worse case scenario they walk away from the deal or trade them smile.

the contract still looks the same. nobody was doubting he would be elite. The question still remains how he will play in years 3-5 of his contract
