Even with the retention, I think you are over-valuing Beau's value on the trade market. If the Canucks could trade him for nothing I think they would do it just to have cap flexibility and leverage.

While a 2nd is probably too much the Canucks arent going to give him away for free. Beauvillier is playing very good defensively and the scoring would come if giving more then 4th plus scrap PP time. I do think there are teams that could use him for a reasonable price (3rd/4th)

I think you're under valuing him a little, but you may not be wrong if he had no retention, he decent has value 50% retained probably more like a 3rd.

A capdump. It's called a capdump and you need to pay MTL to take it.

What about the dadonov trade?

Ok let me explain how fundamentally different it was:

1. Dadonov went from MTL, a rebuilding team, to DAL, a contender, for playoffs depth. Exactly the opposite of the Beauvillier's trade up here.

2. In Dadonov's trade, MTL's caphit ended up 400k higher after the trade. Again the opposite of a capdump.

If you want to clear capspace by trading away Beau, find a condender looking for offensive depth who will take him off your hands or pay up a hefty price to a rebuilding team to convince them to take him.

This is none of those.

I fail to see where was the high pick in the Dadonov's deal from Vegas . Or the multiyears LTIR player in this transaction. Apples and oranges.

Want a more relevant deal? It was under you nose, all along. The Tanner Pearson deal. Vanvouver had to add a 3rd to get MTL to eat his caphit.

your saying that we need to pay MTL cause Beau is a cap dump
But he's making less than what dadonov was
