I'm now convinced you don't understand the Carter contract or situation.

If Anaheim is trying to win they would trade for a better and younger player than carter

Carter has a full NMC - which stands for "No Movement Clause." That means he can't be traded or even sent down without his consent. He holds the keys to all of it.

- This is likely his last season
- He's made it clear to the media on MULTIPLE occasions that he wants a chance to win another cup
- He's a 38 year-old player who's hit his full decline and can't even hold a spot in the lineup

Challenge 1? Him being open to a trade. MAYBE if he continues to be scratched he would be open to trade. MAYBE. There's a good to better chance he waits things out to slide back into the lineup when injuries happen.

Challenge 2? Finding a play-off bound team that would actually WANT a 38 year old player who can't play anymore, let alone them being a team he'd be ok going to. That becomes a VERY small list.

He won't go to any team that's rebuilding, retooling or is simply not a playoff team. With all do respect to the ducks, they will come back down to earth soon enough. They will likely be selling at the deadline, not buying.

The only circumstance under which Anaheim would acquire Jeff Carter is if (1) they're unquestionably out of the playoffs, and (2) they're offered a far greater incentive than swapping a future fifth for a fourth. But that's too far into the future to be of much help to you in the meantime, which is when you need to get rid of Carter.

There lies the issue. Carter won't go to a team that's not a playoff team.

Not sure where Nylander would fit at AHL or NHL level. Just the picks are probably fine.
