              I guess beggars can't be choosers. but...

              Out of this list, I'm only interested in Konecny. Maybe Mangiapane depending on price, but the rest aren't interesting to me.

              Roslovic & Beauvillier -> middle 6 forwards and the Caps already have too many middle 6 forwards
              Vrana -> ship has sailed
              Garland -> I think is terribly overrated and I don't want the extra year in cap space

              Konecny is the only one here I'd be interested in, and the price from Philly would be steep.

              A lot of the players listed here are either 1 year rentals with speculative upside, or middle 6 wingers that don't have top line upside. I'm immediately out on Vrana and Beauvillier. Both don't have a lot of upside, Vrana lacks any sort of defense and has been scratched everywhere he's gone while Beau has a 40 point ceiling and is has a ceiling of Sheary in DC. Roslovic also falls into this category of a slightly better Sheary. Likely not what MacLellan is looking for when he says top 6 forward.

              If MacLellan is spending a 1st, I think he likely shoots higher than Mangiapane. He's got an expensive contract and is only on pace for 50 points this year. Garland will be less expensive but both that term and that production are quite off-putting. Konecny is probably the only player the Caps are interested in, but there's a good reason he hasn't been moved yet. He's got a decent cap hit and a bit of term, but that means Briere will be looking for a kings ransom in a trade with a division rival. I think it's much more likely that Washington stays the course and goes forward in Free agency instead of targeting any of the mentioned players.

              Garlands cap hit and term kind of sucks. But he certainly adds something to a forward group. He’s a pretty good play driver but just has a muffin of a shot. Maybe he’d work well with Ovi?

              Columbus probably prefers picks to prospects at this point. They've already got so many bodies to sort through in the next two years thanks to how many picks (and prospects brought in) they've had since tearing it down in 2021. A second and a third for Roslovic feels right, maybe two seconds if you need a lot of retention. He's a solid, capable middle-6 who is fast as hell and good at shooting, but you have to put him with someone with high hockey IQ. He'd probably be a great fit with Dylan Strome, for example. Definitely do not put him with Sonny Milano.

              I'd take that in Calgary, cap space and roster flexibility are at too high a premium around here.

              Kicking a good player out the door might give the room the jolt it needs.

              Also, I'd take some of that return and buy a slightly used Duclair for Huby.

              I imagine you'll recieve some hate from Calgary, he's beloved around these parts. A lot of fans are hung up on his role in our shutdown line. I don't think having a really good shutdown line, but no lines that can score is very desireable.

              Don't think Mangiapane gets much more than a 2nd. Roslovic isn't worth much, maybe a 3rd+. Konecny would take a lot, not sure how interested Philly is in dealing him. Vrana just got healthy scratched so don't see him getting much in return either. Garland is probably around a 2nd, maybe less

              Honest question, why would the capitals spend a 1st round pick(s) and prospects for a top 6 winger at this point? I know Mangiapane and Konecny both have this season and next on their contracts but given where the caps are I feel like wasting future assets would be a waste no?

              Specially if Mantha and Pac are eventually coming back.

              I guess it'd make more sense if Backstrom was playing, which sucks that he's done.
