Chytil health and getting the team back on track

Created by: Coachchippy
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2023
Published: Nov. 18, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
At this point it might be imperative for Chytil to sit out the rest of the season in order to get his health back on track. This is majorly detrimental to the Rangers' season but it's essential to prepare for our future core. Because our future youth core is screwed if he's going to be forced to retire. Since the season is already in jeopardy these are the steps the Rangers should take to plan for the future
Trades
1.
NYR
  1. 2025 1st round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
Saving the first round pick for 2025 gives more time to evaluate Chytil's health and prediction for the future. If necessary the Rangers can use this to draft a #1 centre in the event that Chytil might be gone for good. If not, they should draft either a #2 caliber centre or a #1 caliber left wing (the right side for the future core is taken care of with Perrault, now Lafreniere, and even possibly Kakko) but we need a replacement for Panarin and Kreider when the time comes.
2.
NYR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
3.
NYR
  1. Leonard, Ryan [Reserve List]
WSH
  1. Zibanejad, Mika ($4,250,000 retained)
4.
NYR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (CGY)

I think the Caps are just fine keeping Leonard rather than taking on a guy who's signed until he's 37.

If the Caps are trying to make one last push at the Cup for OV (which isn't looking impossible for you guys based on the current situation in the metro), Zibanejad at 4.25m is infinitely more useful to the Caps right now than Leonard is

Why don’t you want Adam Sykora anymore!?

We’ll happily swap Stromgren, Ronni or Boltman for Sykora, otherwise it’d probably just be a 3rd Round Pick

Nothing wrong with Sykora just think the Rangers should stock up on picks right about now

He's a .962 and 1.00 GAA this season on a dirt cheap contract?

Well I like my Feisty Slovak’s, but his Skill Ratings on Elite Pro’s aren’t that great

Sample size genius.

Domingue is what he is, a 3rd string goalie. I love the guy, he was awesome when he was in the Flames organization, great with fans, media and a total team guy, even in the minors. At absolute most he returns a 5th, but most likely a 7th.

Always hard to value Goalies, but unless he’s an RFA, not too sure you’ll get more than a 4th/5th RD Pick for him

Labelling the dude coming off a 90pt year who would be worth 50% of his contract via the trade as.. "the guy who's signed until he's 37" is insane.

**** a sample size. He stepped up in the absence of Igor and Quick. Igor who is arguably the greatest in the world right now, and Quick who is another world class talent having a fantastic year so far. And it's not like his game was against a bottom feeder team or something. He's better than a 3rd string goalie he just happens to be the odd man out in the Rangers organization specifically. And again we can look back to the dirt cheap contract. Do the Oilers have many other options? 3rd round pick at the least.

In one game..

There is no chance you're basing his performance off of a single hockey game. Where he faced 26 shots.

In that case Sam Gagner is now worth a 1st due to his 23 goal pace!

It was crushing when I heard of Chytil’s concussion. Really hope he can get back to hockey fully healthy.

C'mon, why would a rebuilding team like the Sharks trade a likely Top 5 pick for a 2nd/3rd pair D-man now? Makes no sense.

One of the most unserious proposals I've seen. Why the **** would the SHARKS trade their first round pick for Ryan ****ing Lindgren???

Dude. No.
He will clear waivers thats how low NHL teams think of him. Any team in the league could pick him up for a 7th round pick any day of the week.

The sample size comments are accurate, as are the fact that he's a career AHL goalie. He will never be a starter, or even an NHL backup on a deep nhl team.

Also I'm boggled as to the overall concept with this AGM.
The rangers are currently top 3 team in the NHL while missing 3 key players. and yet the idea is to "sell off"

Mika at 50% is worth more a top 10 pick. I think Ryan Leonard is going to be a great player, he's also not worth a 40 goal scorer at 50% for the next 6 years! No team, in the history of the NHL has ever eaten that much salary for that long in a retained salary transaction. A buyout, maybe, but not ever for a retained salary transaction.

Additionally why are you moving sykora for a 2nd round pick, when he's looking really good in the AHL, and that only pushes " the young core" out further.
This AGM seems all over the place.

Throwing in the towel lol. SJS are not trading that pick. Domingue is worth a 7th. Zib & NYR pass. Why trade Sykora for a 2nd just to hope for a Sykora.

Do you know about hockey? Not trying to be offensive just genuinely asking. He's the best stay at home dman in the league. He's perfect on our top pairing with ADAM FOX he is not a 2nd/3rd pair guy. He's absolutely worth a 1st round pick

Maybe I'm underrating him, but you can't seriously think he's worth a Top 5 pick.
