Not even if Nylander had 8 years remaining on his contract.

LA laugh and passes, A pending UFA and an injured RHD isn't getting you Byfield and Clarke.

Not enough for Willy Styles right now…dude is red hot…his ceiling is twice as high as Byfield even putting that aside.

LA doesn't have the cap space for this and why would they give up two good cost controlled players for an injured player they don't need even if he was healthy and a player that is UFA and wouldn't be able to re-sign if they wanted to?

Ha, ha, No.

Keep your All-World problem UFA. I have the feeling that re-signing him will be as pleasant an experience as last time, and the better he plays, the worse it will be.

Mike Augello, is that YOU?

Just wondering. You've had Nylander traded for 7 years now. 🤭

You just described both Byfield and Clarke, btw.

value aside this makes no sense for the leafs at all. They are trying to win asap and Nylander is literally their best playoff guy over the past half decade and currently their best player.

If Swift was gonna dump Kelce for Willy, Willy just does his chill smile and says no thanks…he is that hot…where is the Byfield and Clarke hype, show me?

Willy is everywhere right now.

Dude

It’s like the Chiefs trading Kelce for Zach Wilson and whatever right?

You were right about this being a scary trade, in the fact that the Leafs would lose this trade badly, especially in win now mode. Trading away a star player, and retaining almost 50% on a cap dump just to get 2 AHLers and a 2nd. It still doesn’t fix our problem on D either.

Quinton Byfield is an AHLer? Really?

When I made that comment I thought he had been in the AHL this whole season, so I checked his page again and he’s been up and down for the past 3 seasons. I’ll admit I was wrong about Byfield being a full time AHLer, but the other guy definitely is.

Byfield just turned 21 years old....He hasn't played a single day in the AHL since 2022.

Brandt Clarke is 20 and leading his AHL team in scoring. He's also 2nd in the league in scoring amongst defensemen. He's only in the AHL because the Kings don't have roster space for him right now. Jordan Spence has been one of the best defensmen in the NHL so far this season, so he's making it a tough competition.

Both kids will be long-term core players on the Kings.
