Honestly, at this point, I think the Rangers would rather keep their role guys than take on Laine. Cuylle is someone I doubt they want to trade, and who the Rangers value more than they would Texier, just what I think. But yeah, back to Laine, either he stinks and isn't worth it, or he puts up enough points to justify a bigger contract next time, which the Rangers may not want to do (Shesterkin will at least ask for close to what Sorokin is getting, maybe more, in two years). But at the expense of the two big boys in New York's bottom six, I wouldn't do it myself as the Rangers. They don't need to. And it doesn't take a genius to see what a substandard bottom six can do to a team if you just look at the Oilers, or Penguins perhaps. It becomes much tougher to win.
