I wouldn't do this if I were the Bruins. He has only taken 12 faceoffs all year. Meaning he is not a centre (his faceoff percentage for his career is UNBELEIVABLY BAD). So you are giving all that for a winger.

Barzal, next to his first full year, isn't even a point per game player. He is a 60-65 pt guy. Meaning he is actually a very weak star player. I would still put him in the star category but a weak one. 9.15m cap hit is too high for him. He is more of a 7m guy. He also has only ever scored 20 goals one time. He is always high teens.

I personally would not even trade for him, because of his cap hit. I think his cap hit versus his production actually makes him a neutral value player at best. But I personal view him as a negative value asset. (I know this is going to be a huge take and I know teams would still pay for him. I just wouldn't).

I really don't think he is the centre they are looking for. Although his playmaking ability beside Pasta would be an interesting experiment.

Barzal is a true center, he’s a terrible winger.

So they just have him lining up at the wing, get someone to take the faceoff and then he rotates back to centre?

Nathan mackinnon and Jack Hughes suck at faceoffs , should their coaches move them to the wing?

I don't think Barzal is in the same conversation as MacKinnon and Hughes

Why move him permanently to the wing then if he is a true center/getting paid like a center? With the way the Islanders have been playing, why not split up Horvat and Barzal and try them as the 1C and 2C?

Nathan Mackinnon is a very high end SUPER star. Jack Hughes is looking as if he may be a generational talent, at worst he ends up being a very high end super star.

Mackinnon hovers around the 45% faceoff mark which isn't good at all but he can get away with it because of how talented he is.

Hughes hovers around the 37% faceoff mark which is basically as bad as you can get. Unacceptably bad. The reason he can get away with it RIGHT NOW, is because he 22 and because he may be a generational talent, so he is one of the few players in the world who can get away with it. Although if he doesn't start creeping up into the mid 40s over the next few years, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets chucked on the wing and probably rightfully so.

Barzal also hovers around the 37% mark but he is 26 and he is not a generational talent or a super star. His numbers indicate he is a weak star player. He is not good enough to lose that many faceoffs, hence why he has been relegated to the wing for 2 years now.

To put Barzal in the same conversation as Hughes and Mackinnon has zero credibility.

You do realize that Barzal at center was a top 5 possession forward in the league. As a winger, he’s not close to that because he doesn’t have the puck as much. You’re under the impression that faceoffs lead to more possession (which is false).

Faceoffs are maybe the 10th most important thing to account for when deciding is a player should play center. What is this nonsense lol

I have never seen an argument on this site that makes less sense. Barzals skillset is best suiting for center, he could win 2% of his faceoffs and that still stands. There is no arguing against it.
