Why not? He's 4 years younger, has way more upside, and chiarelli is horrible at negotiating. They both have career highs of 77 points, but drai got more goals and is trending up, whereas kuznetsov looks like might not top his career high. Also, Darren Dreger is reporting that anything less than 9 mil "would be a bit of a surprise"

Draisaitl also had an incredible postseason finish, which always gets factored in more than it should. Not to mention when over 13M is being talked about for another player in the team, that'll inflate his ask as well.

Also, why would the Coyotes make that trade? Strome is younger, cheaper, and still looks like he's going to pan out as someone totally worthy of a top 3 pick, whereas RNH already screams disappointment

Strome hasn't really done much in the two years but people take a long time to develop ! With that being said Nuge is not a disappointment and his defensive game is extremely good. If you gave him someone like Gallagher or someone who would actually crash the net and battle by the boards unlike eberle did then nuge would have a lot more points! He's got amazing accuracy and speed

Gotta remember McDavid always make players around him better. I say Drai signs 7.8-8.5 range nothing more. He has showed promise yes but anyone can get points on McDavid line (beside eberle lmao) he turned maroon into a almost 30 goal scorer. If Drai had 77 points while carrying his own line the whole year then yeah I'd give him 8.5 but he didn't so we will see what happens

Saying nuge is a good defensive player just delegitimizes your opinion

If Leon holds out for more money, who else is going to offer sheet more than 7.8m. No many teams have 7.8m in cap space either.
I'm sure the Oilers want Leon. But if it comes to it, getting the picks aren't bad and the other factor folks don't seem to realize...the Oilers can then spend 7.8m on other player(s). Shirley, Chia can spend that money wisely or he can log onto Cap Friendly can get suggestions.
