Haula has 3 power play points in 21 power play minutes with PP 2 (meaning they get on midplay, generally needing to break in)
Monahan has 6 power play points in 85 minutes with PP1 (his shifts start in the offensive zone)

I'll take haula on my power play.

Haula more productive with a man up, 5v5, in the dot, and on the PK.

11 primary points for haula too. Just 9 for monahan.

Haula having less powerplay time doesn’t make him better.

Monahan is better than Haula at the dot. Monahan is 9th while Haula is 32th, behind Suzuki.

Also, we can’t really say Haula is better on the pk. They are both pretty similar, but Monahan is actually productive on the pk.

Haula producing at a better rate on the PP makes him more productive.

We can say haula is better on the PK. A decade across different teams leading solid PKs, monahan has a few years of PK experience leading horrific PKs

If he is that good, why don’t he get more pp time? Him playing less even if Hughes and Hischier were injured clearly indicate he is worse

Because McLeod has been elite and it gave mercer the opportunity to get a top 6C role.

The devils having 5 quality centermen doesn't make Haula any worse

Mercer is a winger and Mcleod is a 4c. It’s like Evans was playing over Monahan

Maybe evans should because Monahan gets caved in night after night.

Mcleod has a 60% xGoals rate and has also produced more than Monahan.

Mercer is a developing C who plays wing when they want to get him top 6 icetime, because he's a stud and Nico+Jack prevent that top 6 time from being obtained at C. If they are hurt mercer takes over there.

Just because the devils have 5 centermen all better than Monahan doesn't change anything

Monahan has 5 pts more than Mcleod while having a slump. But sure, Mcleod has better advance stats. Anderson also have decent advance stats

Monahan is having a slump and still producing more than Haula with worse teammates.

How many times do you need to understand the difference between 5v5 production and "production" that you get from standing in front of the net for 4 minutes a night while your teammates do the work on a power play.

I mean, Haula can’t do what Monahan is doing…

What? get caved in 5v5 and stand in front of the net on a PP?

You're right he's too good to get caved in like that.

But he plays that role on the PP when he's put on it, and produces much more efficiently than Monahan does.

He plays that role but still can’t produce as much and get more ice time.
