The retention on Campbell isn’t necessary, sharks will have a mountain of cap space the next few years during the rebuild and by the time we need cap space his deal would be off the books one way or another!

It probably matters to the owners. I think if there's no retention, they'd ask for and additional 3rd or more. I mean Benning (healthy) is worth a late second / early third on his own.

With retention it will cost more. But you can keep Broberg and we’ll take Akey.

Teams completely overvalue retention lol. Its for 20 games. Edmonton could find a team to take a 4th to retain on that easily.

Goalies dont go for more than 1sts, like ever. Especially not Hart who hasnt even been that good this season with a -2.2 GSAx. Last season was his only season with a positive GSAx since covid.

Obviously a better team will help him out and Philly has been rebuilding for most of the post-covid era, but still he isnt getting a haul like this without Campbell going the other way

I think a lot of teams are looking for an upgrade in net. Might drive up his price, but a late first (assuming Edmonton can bounce back) , an injured prospect in Akey, and a second isn’t a haul for hart.

Hasso has been pretty reasonable and likely sharks play next year and the year after at near basement cap to save money during the rebuild.

I don’t know if Oilers panic and make these deals. Their prospect pool is pretty thin and moving 3- 1sts 2- 2nds and 2 of their top 5 prospects to dump a contract, grab a middle 6 wing rental, Goalie rental, and a decent but mostly a depth RD.
To me the wisest move would be to not make any wild deals, maybe move a bigger player and a few lesser guys for picks and prospects instead of acquiring players, buy out Campbell next year and re-tool in the off season. Sharks did this in 2014/15 and in 15/16 made it to the SCF!
Fans hate this idea but love the results! Patience is hard.

Whoops meant to make that the counter: a ‘24 first, Akey and a ‘24 second. I’d make it a first, Skinner and Akey if that’s better but Oiler fans tend to believe Skinner still has potential.
