I wouldn't hate this. Mittelstadt has been pretty good, but I'd rather help on d (assuming Carlo can play top 4)

I think a top6 Center for a top4 RD makes sense
Let’s not act like Carlo is Bobby Orr

Mittelstadt is 25 & really coming into his own, playing at almost a ppg pace for us
Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like u guys could use some legit Center talent & Mitts would be a good fit
He could be 100 point player if he’s with Pasta or Marchand

He has a lot more value to BOS than on the market. On top of the great contract with term, He's a legit top 3-4 D-Man, and a lot of his metrics never show up not to mention his leadership.
Sweeney refused to involve him for Horvat so it'd unfortunately have to be like Cozens for Carlo with some other fillers which i don't think BUF would do.
I still think there's a trade to be made, but involving Mittlestadt i still think Ullmark is the piece going back

He’s playing top4 on Boston
If he can do it for them, i don’t see why he can’t do it for us?

Maybe Carlo is wishful thinking on my part

Mitts for Ullmark is wishful thinking on yours though
We aren’t gonna trade u guys a ppg Center for less than 2yrs of a good (not “great”) goalie

oh i agree it wouldn't be straight up, but he's certainly turned in to more than a "good" goalie the past 2 years.
May be the defensive haven that is BOS system, or goalie coach Bob Essenza,

But you also can't call Mitts a PPG Center yet. Hes on that pace now, but off that logic, Ullmark is a top 5 goalie in the league for the past 2 years and Mitts off that logic is also a "rental" since he's not re-signed

Lol, nice “sales job”
Ullmark came up with us- we know EXACTLY how good he is
And playing on a great defensive team like Boston will make just about any goalie look better

Let’s put it this way:
If u guys trade Ullmark to us, do u really think he wins the Vezina again?? NO CHANCE

Conversely,
Mittelstadt playing with Pasta or Marchand is likely to be even more productive than he currently is (20pts in 22games)

If Boston wasn't willing to sign Clifton at that value, then they probably wouldn't want him in any trade unless there was retention, so it would definitely require holding money on him.
Mittelstadt might be able to be a point per game player, but Carlo is already a shutdown number 3 that can pair with most puck moving D.
I'd much rather stick with Carlo. There are centers out there that won't cost roster players to get

You do realize he’s gone from a fundamentally unsound goalie to very fundamentally sound under Essensa.

We laugh hysterically.

Would not trade him for Landeskog.

Would not trade him for Horvat.

Playing best hockey of his career.

Let’s trade him for…checks notes…Mittlestedt. 🙄

Creates a massive hole a fixes nothing. Boston needs a goal scoring wing or a true #1C. Mitts is neither of these things.

His inability to win faceoffs, defend, play with any physicality, means they won’t put him in a center position. He’s a playmaking LW. Something they don’t really need. While i think he’d pair well as the LW for Zacha and Pasta and do very well there. It does not offset the loss of Carlo.

I’m not gonna argue about it
The Sabres won’t trade Mitts for Ullmark imo, the end

Bruins lack RHD depth to even consider trading Carlo. If they moved Carlo, they have to either play Clifton or Shattenkirk on the 2nd pairing....and neither guys is remotely close to second pairing material. Boston also doesn't have a lot in the way of young RHD in the pipeline, so Carlo is untouchable outside of a no-brainer overpay type deal.

Fair enough
My thinking was that Boston could “get by” with the downgrade at RD2 bc their overall team defense was so strong

Carlo is a big reason they have a strong defense. He's the best bure defender and their horse on the PK.

Ok so if you take away their biggest and best pure defender than overall defense is going to take a significant hit lol.

Not necessarily
U guys lost Bergeron & Krejci, and are still trucking along just fine

Not to say it wouldn’t have an affect at all,
but (like i said) u play such good team defense overall that i figured u could sustain the loss

Nbd though
Appreciate your feedback

I think the Bruins goaltending has masked some of this. The Bruins last year gave up the 8th fewest SOG/GP. This year they've allowed the 10 most SOG/GP. If you look at goalies with at least 10GP, Swayman ranks #2 in SV% and Ullmark is 7th in SV% for the season. Boston's goaltending has been lights out for the most part and in the games they've been even average, the Bruins have lost.

I feel like u guys don’t really put your goalies in tough spots either though
What your high danger chances against look like ?
