Can review a goalie trade next year if you want to recoup draft assets next year

I probs do that if it’s not retained. Would rather use our last retain spot on at least a first

was gonna say maybe its fair but not for our last retention slot
I think duclair at 1.5 definitely commands a second

I doubt it, but let’s see. I’ve been wrong before, but I think hes the type of player that gets traded for a third. I tried to supplement with a former fourth round pick who is in college and was rated as a third rounder during his draft.

No interest in him if retention is not involved. The compensation is for him at 1.5m.

Personally would trade a 2nd and someone like Zac Jones for him retained, but I wouldn’t do much more than that.

A previous 30 goal scorer with some playoff pedigree that can play anywhere in a top 9 for 1.5 mil + the sharks would be using their last retention slot. If all we could manage is a third then we should just keep him lol

I think that would be a fair offer tbh I can't see him getting much more than that unless he really pops off between now and march

Agree with that! But he has been taking on a strong mentorship role with the younger players and is picking up after his bought with Strep that cost him 3 games and apparently 12 pounds!

Not arguing that you might be able to secure more value for him. Hes not playing particularly well, but I wouldn’t be suggesting acquiring him if I didn’t think he could recover. I’m sure other teams would do the same.

What players are you contemplating trading with a retention slot this year? I’m assuming you wouldn’t trade a long term contract with a retention slot.

Far too much for a guy on an expiring deal. Passing on Hanifin at that price every day of the week

I think right now the best candidates are duke, khak, kunin, barabonov, and even zetterlund although id be sad if he went. I think youre right on the long term contracts

Are any of those guys getting you better than a 3rd? I would agree that Duke probably has the best bet
