Additional Details:
This is the low end I think Hanifin gets

Yea and I assume they run 11 and 7 most nights here. Reaves get benched.

Consider this, you don't need them yet and if you buy them now, they could be injured tomorrow.

Go pay nothing in assets for Bear RN, hold your assets until closer to the deadline and buy the healthiest, bestest, assets available at the time.

Yeah I usually respect your opinion to some degree but you're really getting carried away here to say the least. There's almost no precedence or comparables to justify your stance either, so you're completely on an island at this point. That would be an incredible package for an expiring UFA in Hanifin, and the Flames would be stupid to pass on that.

The value offered here is a 1st, 3 3rds, and a 5th. How am I off base here? Thats much less than Lindholm got

We might disagree on Timmins value, but you could just as easily use Gavrikov, Hronek, D. Toews, Montour, J. Manson, Provorov, Ekholm etc. Even then, this offer is still on the high end even among his most lofty comparables. If you want to use Lindholm as an example, then I think you should also provide the disclaimer that the Bruins were conifdent they could sign him long term, and that Lindholm would go on to be a top 5 defenseman in Norris voting. You can't guarantee the latter, or argue it's even the slightest bit realistic, which means Lindholm is far from the comparison you should be using anyway. That said, if it was a guarantee that the Leafs would be signing Hanifin long term at fair market value then this might be a bit closer to justifying your opinion, but still a very good deal for CGY.

Lol come on man. Hanifin is going to get 40-50 points this year and is a 2-way, puck moving, 1st pairing defenseman. Gavrikov has a career high of 33 points. Hronek was traded for a top 20 pick, Montour was coming off 3 bad seasons in a row in Buffalo. Manson is not even remotely close to as good as Hanifin. Provorov hasn't had a good season since Niskanen retired, plus there was the political stuff. Toews was a cap casualty and wasn't nearly as good as he is now, he was a 25 year old entering his 3rd season. Ekholm was traded at age 32 in year 1 of a 4 year deal, he also hadn't gotten more than 35 points in 5 years.

Calgary is absolutely going to let teams negotiate with Hanifin before a trade, I don't see why they wouldn't. And there is no world where Boston expected Lindholm to finish top 5 in Norris voting when they traded for him. What a ridiculous argument.
