No thanks from Detroit. Fit just isn't there. Hanifin alone wouldn't make this team a playoff caliber team and he likely doesn't re-sign here. Also trading away our first this year doesn't really make sense either.

Isn't Detroit leading the league in GF and 4th in GA? Hanifin isn't being moved until at earliest February but thinking he's not a clear upgrade to your roster is just silly.

Also that is literally Boston's 1st in the trade

*Detroit's 1st. Ottawa gets Boston's 1st.

No that's literally Detroit's choice on which one goes to Ottawa. Regardless if Detroit is firmly in the playoff picture around the deadline then adding Hanifin would be a huge upgrade for them

Only makes sense if they can extend Hanifin. But Detroit looks like they'll be selling. They give up way too many goals.

Problem is Hanafin has said he wants to go to Boston. So trading a 1st for a rental makes zero sense for Wings.

2nd in GF and 17 in GA. 10th PP, 21st PK. We are currently 2nd in the league with a 12.4 SH%. We are not good on a bunch of other statistics that I don't plan on getting into, I think you get the idea. We are also 3rd for penalties, which is kind of important as well. Basically I don't see the Wings maintaining their position. They are likely going to be a bubble team.

Also I never said Hanifin wouldn't be an upgrade on this roster. I said he wouldn't instantly make this team playoff calibre.

Detroit gets the choice between their own and Boston's 1st. With the direction this team is going, they will be sending Boston's. Either way, not drafting in the first round this year is something that should never be considered.
