Jesperi looks locked in as a 45 pt middle 6 player at this point, and while he's not on a bad contract for what he does, his main benefit is cost certainty that Anaheim doesn't really need or value at the moment. Then add a second and that might get Gibson at full salary, but you haven't even scratched at paying for the retention in this offer.

And all of this assumes Kotkaniemi is any good on the wing, as he's not pushing into the top 6 at C.

I'm okay with that... Lemieux is good for a 13th forward

I love when I get accused of trolling but no one can ever specifically point out what I suggested that constitutes "trolling". Maybe you're the troll going after someone just for being a Rangers fan

Whew that's a rough price for a guy with a $8m AAV who's on the wrong side of thirty (one of our best prospects and a top-six forward + a first) and has that contract until he's 35... he'd be a great second line center but I'd like the price to be a little lower

If I wanted to waste my time going after Rangers fans, I would drive myself to Cary.

Frankly, I already know what your thoughts are between Zib/Chytil, and for a Rangers fan, you are quite delusional with your take. Even if the Rags were willing to move Zib, and eat half his deal on top of that, which they aren’t, Canes aren’t going to move a prospect they just drafted only a couple of months ago. As for the Gibson trade, Ducks don’t need more centers, and the Canes aren’t moving KK, and certainly wouldn’t be adding on to him. Raanta isn’t worth that right now, and neither is Vrana.

You say Cary like anyone besides Canes fans think of that place tears of joy Never mind, I now realize you're the person who rejects EVERY SINGLE trade ever involving the Canes so you are the delusional troll, not me, just because I prefer making "bold moves" that would actually impact a team, vs trading fourth liners for 5th round picks and believing that would actually help win a team a Cup. These trades make the Canes significantly better. Whether you like it or not.

And you know what? I have time so let's go through all your points and make you look like a fool since you came at me with no manners or politeness.

A, I'm not delusional about Chytil/Zibanejad. Even if I'm wrong about him in the present (which I'm not, but for arguments' sake), I'm DEFINITELY not wrong about him in the future. That contract is going to age horribly by the time he's 34 at the latest. And then the Rangers have him locked up for several years after that. You think the Goodrow or Trouba contracts are bad? Man when you think about this a few years from now, I hope you think back to CF ACGM user Coachchippy and realize that he had a point all along. But even in the present -- he's completely f***ing invisible at 5v5! I would know, I watch him every night. He looks like he's skating through concrete unless he's in his office on the PP, which he should be taken off because he rarely does anything but miss the net nowadays. And now he's developed a new bad habit of taking penalties, starting with an asinine 10 min misconduct the other night, and now 6 total penalty minutes tonight, 4/6 of which came from STUPIDLY going after a Leaf who made a TEXTBOOK CLEAN HIT on Lindgren when we were down by 2 goals and half the period left. Thanks a lot Zibanejad. On the other hand, Chytil is literally our only centre who has speed and can bring a puck into the offensive zone without instantly losing it, or without having to do a dump and chase. Yeah, I think I'll take 24yo fast playmaker and scorer Chytil over 30yo Zibanejad at 8.5m a year.

Now, if the Canes got Zibanejad or a player just like him at HALF PRICE, they'd be stupid to turn that down. He's a SIGNIFICANT upgrade over Kotka, so stop letting your emotional attachment to him cloud your judgment. Because thinking that HE is better or more valuable than Zibanejad is 10000x more delusional than me thinking Chytil > MZ. Make MZ your low end 1C (although you already have one in Aho) or a very high end 2C, at 4.25 there's really no wrong choice. But guess what?! It's going to cost you! You're not going to be able to acquire a point per game+ centre at 4.25 million dollars a year for the ghost of Tony DeAngelo and a 6th round pick, it's just not going to happen!

B, The Gibson Trade.....

Then the Ducks can play him as a winger. Not really that hard. Or if they don't see any use for him on their roster (doubtful), they can flip him. Maybe even back to Montreal. And if the Ducks were to retain 2m on Gibson for another 4 years.... YES, you CERTAINLY would be adding a pick on top of Kotka. Teams don't do that out of the kindness of their heart.

C, to NJ who's in DESPERATE need of goaltending help, he might be.

D, once again, with retention, YES HE IS!
