Possible Stamkos Trades VGK BOS WPG DET NYI NYR COL

Created by: TampaFan86
Team: 2023-24 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 15, 2023
Published: Dec. 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The scenario would be if Tampa doesn't have a chance of making the playoffs by the TDL and Stamkos agrees to waive. We would tank for our top 10 protected pick back and try again next year with the new prospects

Team Interest vs Likelihood vs What I would want

1) Vegas Vegas Rangers

2) Isles Colorado Bruins

3) Bruins Winnipeg Winnipeg

4) Rangers Rangers Isles

5) Colorado Isles Vegas

6) Winnipeg Detroit Colorado

7) Detroit Bruins Detroit

Stamkos doesn't want to be in a big market so that went into the consideration for the "likelihood" of the trade along with some other factors like team competitiveness, being in the division, etc.

I just don't see Tampa trading Stamkos or Stamkos even waiving mid season.

I think they would trade stamkos but I dont think stamkos will waive. We traded st.louis and lecavalier towards the end of their careers and we didnt resign palat, killorn and traded johnson and mcdonaugh during JBB's tenure so I dont really think he cares about loyalty.

Don't think it was so much lack of royalty....it was cap. Palat and Killorn could have resigned with Tampa but not for the bloated contracts they got elsewhere. Aren't you glad Johnson got traded, he was not playing to his contract. McDonagh is a different situation. IMO it's really iffy that a playoff contender asks a star player to if he would waive . Heck of a way to piss off a star player if he doesn't want to, and then word gets into the dressing room that management is "selling".

They were apparently close on a killorn contract but JBB chose sheary and jeannot instead, I am a fan of johnson and even if he wasnt producing up to a 5mil AAV contract he was still a pretty good player. I just dont understand what JBB is waiting for exactly, we know how much the cap is going up and stamkos has shown no signs of slowing down and wants to sign the contract so its a bit confusing. Also apparently according to players in the lockerroom the sentiment is that management wouldnt be heartbroken if stamkos left so the players already know apparently. I just dont think there is any chance stamkos actually waives

Ask Jeff Carter. He's been saying the same thing ad nauseum yet he's the most traded player on CFACGM. 🙄

I've made the point with him too. When someone has a full NMC and says I want to retire & raise my family here. It's a good indication he's not waiving his Full NMC.

St.louis demanded it ...No we didn't trade Vinny he was a compliance buy-out after the lock-out shortened season

I know st.louis demanded it but that just goes to show what a rift between the GM and player can cause, I forgot thats how Vinny left though

would you rather have a hole at 3RD or in your top 6?

I mean they can improve the top 6 without having to give up a roster piece lol

I mean I would take 2 1sts instead of schneider and a 1st, I just preferred getting schneider. But the only 2 players that would be good enough to fit into a teams top 6 come this TDL would be lindholm and stamkos and both would have to be rentals for the rangers because it would be tough to make the cap work next season. Considering Schnieder is going to get a bridge deal next season I though it might be easier to take him from the rangers before he gets his raise.

They won’t even have enough cap at the deadline to fit a $2m player unless they shutdown Kakko and chytil until the playoffs. But as of now, they’re both suppose to return during regular season which means they can’t use the LTIR to get a big name player and they’re not accrue cap either

if they run 21 players and get double retention on stamkos they could
