Because Pierre Dorion wouldn't let Vegas have Dadonov's no-trade list.

Don't see it being for a 1st and a 3rd though... Especially for Tarasenko's NTC

Assuming the Sens are missing the playoffs, yeah it's good idea to sell upcoming UFAs. Chychrun trade value will never be higher as he can get into two playoffs if traded to a playoff team.
Two awful trades for the Sens, trading for DeBrincat and Chychrun...and still missing the playoffs.

Yea I agree. That NTC gives him full control and makes it difficult to get a max return

Monahan would be younger, cheaper, and better than Tarasenko... more versatile too!

Yea and the only reason the rangers coughed up a 1st is because they had two of them and Mikkola was included

Chychrun's family is based in the Ottawa Valley.

He'll be signed to an 8 year extension like Chabot and Sanderson.

He also made the all-star game last season and less teams have the need to go after Tarasenko

Tarasenko's cap hit was higher then.

And Rangers gave up Blais and Skinner.

If Drury isn't willing to be fair and negotiate in good faith all of a sudden, we'll just trade Tarasenko elsewhere.

I guess less teams needed to go after him too ...

Blais was a cap dump and Skinner is an ECHL player lol

That’s the whole point, you can’t trade him else where if he doesn’t agree to it lol

There were a lot more factors than that. The Rangers last year used LTIR far less and so accumulated more cap space than this year.
Blais was a retread for St. Louis who had performed very poorly for the Rangers, and Skinner was a throw-in ECHL prospect.
The Blues knew what they were getting in Blais and the Rangers were clearing contract slots for further moves.

Mikkola had a higher cap hit than Blais and was nothing more than a depth defenceman.

And Tarasenko wanted to be traded to any playoff contender that could take him when the Blues botched his shoulder surgeries.

If Drury wants to negotiate as bad as you all of a sudden, we'll just trade him elsewhere.

    It's that simple.

I'm sorry you couldn't tell that I was being sarcastic.

    Better luck next time.

Either way, your point about the all-star game is irrelevant ...

Mikkola is a pretty good defenseman and the Panthers saw that as well. I don’t think the NYR and Panthers (two top Eastern teams) view him as “depth”

And like I said before, “we’ll trade him else where” isn’t gonna work if he only choose 1 or 2 teams. That’s the whole problem of NTC’s and giving the player all the power

Mikkola, Blais and Skinner were all spare parts that were thrown into the trade.

The bigger picture was that Tarasenko was traded for a 1st and a 3rd.

The Rangers got a third pairing defenseman they needed (which is what JFresh talks about in the tweets right before the one you linked)

But if Dorian wants to negotiate as bad as you all of a sudden, the Rangers could just trade for someone else.

Florida is irrelevant because he signed there months after.

Tarasenko is going to choose any team that is a contender.

If that was his motive at the deadline last year, it will likely be his motive at the deadline this year.

JFresh also remarked, "that said don't expect that much from him lol".

But you just had to look past that part ...

And Dorion isn't Ottawa's GM anymore.

And imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

OTT got 2 guys to trade and 2 guys to explore trading

    Tarasenko
    Kubalik

    = Obvious

    2 guys to heavily consider

    = Chycrun and Giroux

Both guys are up the following season and with how things are rn whats the likelihood of an extension. Sell high on them and get good assets back as it seems Sens management just gonna let this season float by per Friedman as they got bigger things to worry about in terms of straightening the organization out first.

We just fired the Head Coach.

Jacques and Alfie are taking over behind the bench.

As for Giroux and Chychrun, they're staying.

They're both from the Ottawa Valley, they're both core pieces and both will easily get extensions.

I'd also add that Giroux has a NMC.
