Anaheim doesn't need a below-average goaltender.

If that's the best return for Mrazek hopefully the Hawks just extend him.

I think CHI just keeps Mrazek if this is all he fetches.

Doesn't get you Henrique, only one of those two players is an NHL caliber player this season, and its not Vanacek.

Over last 82 games

Player A -- .901 SV%, 2.77 GAA, 2.71 xGAA
Player B -- .903 SV%, 3.53 GAA, 3.63 xGAA

Which is not "NHL caliber"?

Imagine if 1 of them was also on the wrong side of 30 and had the 3rd highest cap hit in hockey

Vanacek, as I said, because he is second to last in GSAX this season, only Ranta is doing worse, and it's not by much. Vanacek would clear waivers at this point, so why is Anaheim giving up an asset for him?

If Vanecek isn't a problem, I wonder why you've started like 7 threads in the last week alone trying to dump him for other goalies

Vanacek has been a problem.

The solution to 1 problem isn't to go buy an even more expensive problem

Yeah I mean you guys were real quick to get defensive about someone saying they don't want him. The whataboutism in regards to Gibson, who has nothing to do with this thread, being the cherry on top.

Using a comparison between a guy who that guy values as a 1st round+++ despite a cap hit of 6.4 mill, and a guy he views as not NHL caliber is meant to provide context.

Providing numbers without context is pointless.

Is Vanacek a problem? Yes, is his backup able to pick up the slack? No. Would Gibson solve NJ's problem in net? Almost certainly. Would Vanacek clear waivers at this point? Also yes.

I have been viewing Vanacek as a cap dump.

If he hit free agency I'd expect someone to offer him in the ballpark of 2 mill based on past play. So I'd pay a 3rd to dump him at 2.8 mill

If Gibson hit free agency I'd expect him to get 5 mill. So at full price he would cost a 2nd+3rd to dump 5.6 mill

If Gustafsson hit UFA I'd expect him to get around 6, so I'd offer a 1st+Prospect for him for the 6.75 mill in surplus value. Personally I really like him so I'd throw in more.

None of this has anything to do with a Ducks fan not wanting to trade Henrique for Vanecek. You got mad that he called him "not NHL caliber" or whatever, and you turned it into whataboutism out of, idk, bitterness? Because you hate Gibson? Who knows.

Would gibson solve NJD's goalie problems:
if the 20 game sample size holds up, yes for the short term
If the 180 game sample size before that holds up, no
Would Gibson create significant cap problems for NJD: yes
Do the numbers for 33-34 year olds suggest the gibson contract will age well. God no

Context.

If I simply said:

Vitek Vanacek has 1.94 GSAx over the last 4 years, what would that mean?

NOTHING. Context is necessary.

It's irrelevant "context" because it doesn't change not wanting to trade Henrique for Vanecek, it just allows you to get defensive and attack Gibson

Notice how you have no interest in changing his mind about the trade he declined, you just want to call Gibson bad?

He claimed vanacek wasn't NHL caliber. I compared him to a goalie that he views as incredibly valuable.

He can do what he wants with the numbers. They can change his view of gibson and bring him down, or change his view of vanacek and bring him up. I don't really care.

Just about consistency with player valuations.
