Vancouver's D feels like an enigma now beyond Hughes-Hronek. Where do you see Larsson fitting in? First of all, I guess, how have Zadorov and Myers looked together? The other pairing is Cole and Juulsen right? Is Juulsen filling in reasonably as a 3rd pair guy? Who would Larsson play with and would he take 2nd or 3rd pair RD?

If Canucks got Larsson they would break up Hughes and Hronek to see what Hronek can do with Cole or Soucy as need to see if he can be a $8,000,000-$9,000,000 player without Hughes and OEL cap penalty is over $4,000,000 next year so need cost certainty for a new RHD without trading someone else away to make cap room

2-3 weeks

what would you do with the Canucks D?
I think they need to make a play for a RHD on a value contract like Chychrun or Carrier
but that's just me

Personally, I dunno man. When healthy it's Hughes/Hronek, Zadorov/Myers, Cole/Soucy right? Who gets replaced? None of those guys will accept being a 7th D, so you'll have to send one of them away in an upgrade. Cole would be an expensive 7th D to have on the roster.

My opinion, go Hughes-Hronek 1st pair, Zadorov-Myers 3rd pair, and if they can, get a 2nd pair RD to play with Soucy when he's healthy. Cole as a 7. Juulsen, Friedman, Brisebois, etc injury depth.

OR, upgrade the forward lines, and hope that Cole, Soucy, Zadorov and Myers can run the bottom four D, and that Juulsen and those other guys will be enough depth.

Sean Walker could be a good addition, but the Flyers like him and he likes them, they could ask more than Vancouver is willing to pay for a UFA.

Hughes - Hronek
Soucy - Walker
Zadorov - Myers
Cole

The flyers aren't sellers. I wanted Jokiharju but most of the guys we have are interchangeable.

Hughes - Hronek
Zadorov - Soucy
Cole - Jokiharju

Myers - Juulsen

And yes they would accept being a 7D. The culture is pretty good right now, Myers is expiring anyway but assuming we don't get Henri, we don't hate Juulson anymore, we still don't want him in playoff games if someone goes down. So expect us to add and someone above Juulsen to sit if all guys are healthy.

Sideways move for Seattle... doesn't really make sense for them.

Seattle needs a really solid D prospect in any trade that involves Larsson. The value otherwise is probably fair, but since it's Vancouver Seattle would want a premium, so from a value perspective, they'd likely have to part with a 1st instead of the 2nd. And find a way to get a better D prospect in the trade, although that could mean dropping Karlsson from the trade.

Jokiharju may be a decent long-term add, but he wouldn't be a "moves the needle this year or maybe ever?" kind of add. If the Canucks somehow managed to fleece Arizona out of Sean Durzi, for instance, that could move the needle. Only an example..

Definitely agree the Canucks should add someone more competent than any of their current lower options.

it just amazes me that trades like this that have no chance of happening, get tons of responses, but ones that actually make sense, get very little attention.just goes to to prove hockey fans really havent a clue.hey how about mcdavid for makar, the oil need a right dman and colorado needs a center, then add about 10 other pieces and call it a blockbuster.would blow up on here.

I don't think we need a huge needle moving D. We have 2 and that's as many as most contenders.

The only real hole in our lineup is where Kuz is right now. And we can't fill that with term as long as OEL's buyout and Petey's contract are going up.

That may or may not be true, but sometimes you just need to look closer. The discussion being had here was all about "what would you do with Vancouver's D?", essentially ... the trade itself, I don't even recall being discussed in and of itself. Referencing the (my) first comment on the post, "Vancouver's defence is kind of an enigma right now beyond Hughes-Hronek" ...

No reason to get uptight or cast aspersions, or were you just hoping to get some likes on the comment so you can feel like you're part of a special, hallowed crowd that "gets it" while everyone else is a bunch of idiots lol.

Sometimes people like to just chat and write down some ideas, not every one of them is specifically about the trade. Get it?
