EDM
  1. Brodie, TJ
  2. 2024 5th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
EDM trades 4th to a 3rd team for 50% retention, TOR sends 5th to 4th team for 75% total retention. Oilers get Brodie at 1.25 mil for a 2nd and 4th
3.
TOR
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
Additional Details:
Ottawa clearly won't be competing by the time Chych expires, and their of success to that point, along with already having Sanderson, Chabot, Zub, JBD. Brannstrom plus Lily after this theoretical trade goes through would mean he'd be unlikely to re-sign, especially after requesting a trade from ARI for the chance to compete. He's not being utilized to his full potential in OTT, and with a new GM and owner in place they won't feel tied to as Doiron might have. He was never the piece that addressed their needs in their first place, and this would allow the Sens to retain a cup worthy D core while also gaining the assets and cap space to add a legit starter. Don't know if it would take this much from the Leafs, but OTT should absolutely say yes to this deal, while the Leafs would be very likely to re-sign him once he expires as a player who would fit their needs and competitive window perfectly.

Additional Details:
Leafs re-sign Henrique at 3 x 4. Regardless of who is "more valuable" in a vacuum between Jones and Jarnkrok at the moment, Jones brings a needed element to compliment our scoring forwards.

And we like Jones for the same reason, so we'll keep him. Nor do we want Jarnkrok, too many bottom 6 guys on the team already and kids trying to make the roster.

If Chychrun wants to compete, why go to and re-sign with perennial playoff chokers? He'd be better off demanding a trade to Tampa, Vegas, Avs, Panthers, any team that's made it to the cup finals or conference finals.

Also, Ottawa has beat the leafs 2 out of 3 times this season (so far), so I'm not sure he'd see the Leafs as much of an upgrade.

"Being more than fair" is a bit of a stretch.

You're kind of having a clear out of goods (some damaged) for the good of the leafs, but getting value back in return. Take for instance the CBS trade, dumping a 3.5mil expiring UFA goalie who is playing horribly probably cost a 3rd and a 5th, not acquiring two players (Peeke has been pretty okay of late).

Love the targets. I feel we are looking for the same type of team. Value looks pretty reasonable, I’m sure a few tweaks but a good prop. Never gonna make everyone happy. Sens fans are going to be shutting this down.Lol, Solid D but needs to stay healthy, as of now with never playing over 60 games in a season, he is a big risk.

All valid points for sure. If he were able to stay healthy i think he'd be the ideal fit for the Leafs for sure. Thankfully for us I think Tre views the team in a similar way and has yet to truly make his mark. People can **** on him all they want, but during his tenure he was responsible for acquiring the likes of Dougie Hamilton, Adam Fox, Hanifin, Rasmus Andersson, Weegar, Tanev, Zadorov, etc.; only spending one CGY 1st rounder in the process and signing most those players to valuable contracts. For where we're at as a team right now, and with his penchant for acquiring big name defensemen, I'm looking forward to him finally making his mark on the Leafs. Imagine if it was the other guy and we spent a 1st, 2nd etc. for 4 years of 33 year old Karlsson at 10 mil, who still needed to retain close to 1.7 mil of Petry's 2 remaining years despite him being a capable NHL defenseman.

I'm excited not to be let down by more bargain bin disappointments only to watch them walk along with the assets we spent on them. Hang in there while the haters get their quips in; it will only make it that much sweeter in the end..

Happy Holidays my friend! Always a pleasure meeting knowledgeable Leafs fans like yourself who can see past the BS.

100% agree. All our goalies would have no knees left if we had Karlsson amongst the rest of this D with no room to pick up anyone else. Analytic guys drive me nuts. Some of it is valuable for sure but not when you base all your decisions off numbers.
Would love to put some assets in getting a number 1RHD (with some term) instead of going with 2 mediocre guys. But hopefully he pulls the trigger on something soon. Getting antsy.
Happy Holidays to you as well!

A great offer for Chychrun and likely what it would take to get him, I just don’t see Ottawa doing it. They’re playing much better under Martin, and I don’t think they’d have any trouble re signing him next offseason. Think Chabot would be the most likely trade chip on D, although he’s not the type or price tag I’m sure the leafs would want! Good offer though, would definitely make them think about it (I think lily is underrated and could play as a #4 on the D)

Didn't Treliving also make the Hamonic trade when he was the Flames GM? That one didn't turnout very good for Calgary, also Andersson was drafted by Calgary, they didn't trade for him.

He did, but do you think that trade alone cancels out the good? I didn't say he traded for them either, he drafted Fox as well. Point is that he has an eye for good D and a knack for acquiring them, whether through trade (Hamilton, Hanifin, Weegar, Zadorov), the draft (Fox, Andersson) or FA (Tanev, Benoit, Lagesson). Of course he hasn't been perfect, no GM is. But the good outweighs the bad in this regard.

I don't disagree, I'm just looking at things as a whole.
