Ottawa next moves v2

Created by: SickoSens
Team: 2023-24 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 30, 2023
Published: Dec. 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My last version was pretty bad looking bad at it, was made out of frustration. I’ll try to be as realistic and reasonable as
possible with this one.

First trade (January)

EDIT: I had the wrong value for Logan Stanley from a fake tweet in my unedited post so I remade the trade:

Jets are looking for a defender that can fill a right side spot which Brannstrom can fill, Ottawa is looking for a big crease clearing defender Stanley can fill that role. I think a good hockey trade can go down here.

Second Trade (Late January)

The Flyers have shown interest in Tyler Boucher, I say at most we get a 2nd out of that, flyers also need some scoring depth, so I think we can get Kubalik for a 3rd.

After 2nd trade

Sign pinto to qualifying offer.

Final Trades (Trade deadline)

(Only applies if still outside of playoffs, which is likely)

If Edmonton Oilers are in a playoff spot by trade deadline (which they should be) then I think this trade makes sense, taking cap hits from them while adding a goalie and a good 2nd scorer.

If Arizona is still in playoff contention then getting a depth Forward in Warren Foegele will help (this can be a three way trade)

And for the final trade on trade deadline ottawa is going to receive an Ottawa native for extra depth on defence, could just wait to sign him in offseason but I don’t care I want this trade

Winnipeg isn't adding a first to Stanley for a bottom pairing defenseman.

Aside from the Pinto signing, everybody declines.

No hard feelings.

Would you take a second then? Remember Stanley is a negative asset.

I think the only trade that may be declined in Winnipegs, and maybe Edmontons needs some tweaking but the rest go through in my opinion, how wouldn't they?

So is Brannstrom who is paid more and isn't as good as Stanley. There's no reason for Winnipeg to pay anything to make a lateral at best move.

This is an absolute no from the Jets, while I like Brannstrom and thought he would be a stud dman he's in no way worth a 1st at this point.

How is Stanley a negative asset? He makes $1M, he can be sent to the AHL for full cap relief.

1. Winnipeg is not paying a 1st to swap Stanley for Brannstrom.

2. Boucher is a bust and with what the Flyers paying, they should be expecting Tarasenko instead of Kubalik.

And if Columbus decides to keep their 2024 2nd, your trade would be illegal.

3. Edmonton is not moving their 2024 1st because it will be a lottery pick.

4. Arizona might give you a 5th round pick for Foegele.

5. Tampa is not selling unless you overpay.

Flyers won't pay a potenti 1st just for Kubalik and a borderline bust project in Boucher.

Jets decline that in a second… Brannstrom isn’t worth a 1st + Stanley and WPG has zero need for him even at his real value.

A 20 year old player who was drafted 2 years ago is a bust? Ok

Didn’t he just go unclaimed on waivers?

A apparently that was a fake tweet, my bad , that completely changes the trade, I’ll edit it appropriately.

Stanley hasn't been through the waiver wire yet. The Jets recently waived Toninato tho.
