Why does Edmonton do this? Or even consider it?

Do we really think that Toronto is one of 4 teams in the league on C4’s trade list?

We decline anyways

I'd think if you took the 2 4th round picks off the Nashville side and took off Knies from the Toronto side the deal, the deal would be fair

You guys seem to think Nylander has pending RFA value.

He's a pending UFA with a personal, and family history, of holding out for the biggest contract possible. You are trading his early negotiating rights and half a season of his play, the latter of which is effectively useless to a non playoff team, and you want 4 seasons retention on our best defenseman, a top prospect, and our premier trade piece this season, also retained.

And you want us to take Jarnkrok on top of that.

Ducks are an elite winger away from being in the wild card hunt 🤷‍♂️

And we can chase one with cap space, not sending out a top prospect only to turn around and give a guy UFA money.

This is getting a leg up on the other teams before free agency starts and maybe give Duck fans some hope to make the playoffs this year, Zellweger is the only player the Ducks are losing that is tied to their future as Henrique and Fowler were going to be traded at the TDL anyways
Jarnkrok was a throw in to make the cap hit work for the trade

And Zellweger is Fowlers replacement, and has a 4 team trade list, and your asking for 4 years retention.

Fowlers lengthy retention is worth a first. The player is worth a 2nd. Rico retained is worth a second, zellweger is worth a first.

So you are saying a few weeks negotiating advantage with Nylander and Jarnkrok amounts to two firsts and two seconds, I'm saying that's BS.

Oilers to get another RHD at $775k cap hit as depth for the wild card chase and Leafs do it to replace Jarnkrok in their bottom 6

Why do we need one? Ryan has been an important piece in the bottom 6 especially come playoff time, Lagesson wouldn't even play in the NHL for Edmonton, we get get much better options if we even need it (we don't) off of waivers
