OTT
  1. Barron, Justin [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Ottawa will definitely want to upgrade that defense. With new ownership, he already know Barron. Drafting at that rank would mean 3-4 years before the players might have a impact. Ottawa will be looking for the playoff.

  1. 2024 1st round pick (DET)

Why would Ottawa do this?
I rather have the Sens keep their first-round pick.

1) Sens will almost certainly be getting the Boston 1st, which is gonna be late 20s, not 10-16.

2) even giving a late 1st for a mediocre Dman is a bad idea. The idea of giving a top 15 pick for Barron is beyond insane lol

Sens are also more likely to trade for picks than to move picks at this point

1. Pinto will get less than 2 million.

2. Massive overpayment on both Sprong and Amadio.

3. We are not bringing back Tierney.

4. We will be receiving Boston's 1st, not Detroit's.

5. Boston's 1st will be 25th overall or lower.

6. We are not swapping it for Justin Barron.

Sprong will hit 30 goal this year. He got 20 last year. Just look at 30 goal scorer and come back with the average salary just for fun.

Do you think in the next 3-4 years Ottawa will be an elite playoff team?

A 22 years old right handed defenseman who play 19 minutes on a super bad team. Mediocre d man. That’s probably why Mtl is in front of Ottawa in the standing regardless of their lack of offensive support. That had nothing to do with them having the top scoring defense. The only thing that is mediocre is your comment. Barron is a legit top 4 defenseman who fit the Ottawa timeline. Your defensive prospect pool is mediocre and that righ side is mediocre.

Yes i do think they will be, they are 1-2 pieces away from being at the top of the Atlantic. They have a high powered offense and Sanderson as a cornerstone on defense. Chabot won’t need to play 27 minutes and might play a full season we a restrained use. Adding a 20+ top four right handed defenseman would just make sense. Or they can stick with the pick, still suck for the next 3 season then Brady will ask for a trade, Giroux will be gone, Batherson will go and Ottawa will be in a perpetual rebuilt just like Buffalo. Pretty sure with what Andleur said he won’t let that happen. With the likely 7-10th pick Ottawa could had a solid right handed defenseman their a couple of them. But i might be completely out of range.

Plus they need a hardcore coach like Craig Berube or Patrick Roy if Sens want to be an elite playoff team.

Minutes played isn't an indication of being good. Hamonic averages 19 Minutes too, and he's awful. Barron isn't awful. He's fine. And he's young too, so there’s definitely something to like there. He's not worth a 1st, least of all to a team not making the playoffs this year.
