Retention on Brodie will cost much more. He has $7.5M in real money owed to him this season.

If you do this trade now, a 50% retention is still $1.75M real dollars, nobody is paying that for a 4th. Most teams will be asking for a 2nd on retention. If you wait to the deadline that money drops closer to $875k and you could likely do it for a 3rd and a big money AHL player.

Edmonton don’t want declining old ass Brodie who’s not good enough for Torontos trash D core, let alone the Oilers much better D core.

Lmao as an oilers fan I don't think we're in much of a position to be trashing other peoples d-men or d-cores

Bro. What do you mean? We have 3 defenceman better than any ONE defenceman the Leaf’s have. Who’s the best leaf’s D-man? Morgan Reilly? I’d take Nurse, Ekholm, and Bouch over him.

Ehhh I dunno. Those four are pretty damn equal imo. Im also taking Mccabe and Lilijgren over Ceci. The d-cores are pretty damn equal

No they are not. Reilly is a step below all those guys. He’s a PO QB that doesn’t even run the PP well. So as a PP QB Bouch is better. As pure 2 way defenders both Ekholm and Nurse are better by a large margin. Leafs also targeted the Oilers #6D in an effort to improve their D core, literally our lowest on the rung D-man the Leaf’s wanted to improve their core, that tells you everything.

Nurse has the worst contract in the league for a d-man. His d-zone hockey IQ is below average for sure.

He’s actually been amazing at since the coaching change. And his hockey IQ is showing flashes we didn’t know was there. He’s playing amazing right now. I wouldn’t trade him or that contract at this point.

As a completely neutral 3rd party… not considering age or contract situations. I take Reilly over all 3 every day. That being said those 3 combined are better than the top 3 leaf Dmen. And if contracts/age play a part Bouchard is the guy I’m considering over Reilly but it’s not a sure thing. But that’s from a totally unbiased perspective. You’re obviously welcome to take your position 👍🏼
