The Hawks aren’t taking on someone else’s failed $4m project for free, attach a 2nd round pick and the Hawks might be interested.

1. No way it takes a second, a 3rd I can see but definitely not a second considering the cap is going up
2. The hawks roster looks ridiculously depleted right now, Davidson loves taking on veterans especially for a high price. If he's willingly signing Foligno and Perry to 4 million dollar deals (which at the time seemed rough) then he fs takes RJ on for free

He isn’t a failed project he is still on pace for 20 goals he is just a really bad fit and lesson learned that with their line up guys that can skate are a must.

You’re still over the cap, and Francousz is done for the season but he still has LTIR worth for the Avs, I really doubt the Isles would even consider and it would create a serious cap crunch meaning they would have to move a dman in the off season for pure futures which wouldn’t necessarily be bad.

If Johansen is a really bad fit at $4m, then he really does qualify as a failed project.

Perry was the Hawks own failed project, not someone else’s.

Does that make it any better?

Well if you go back to my original comment I said “the Hawks aren’t taking on someone else’s failed $4m project” so I’m just clarifying something you seemed to have missed.

As for doe sit make it any better, well since Perry’s contract was terminated and the Hawks were able to get out from under it, yes it is a little better then taking the full hit.

True, but how can you call a 30 point guy a failure when your roster is literally half AHL callups?

The Hawks were not meant to be competitive this season, the GM announce two years ago when he took the job that they were rebuilding, factor in nine injuries and this is what you get… again not that difficult to understand.

The Avs on the other hand are a Stanley Cup contender and a large portion of their fans are looking to move on from their big offseason acquisition… 30 points or not, it looks like there are plenty of Colorado fans that consider his acquisition a failure, nevermind what I think.

His contract has nothing to do with it honestly. $4M for 20 goals is a decent return and for COL they are getting that scoring and he does take all key fave offs for him, it’s just tough watching him try to keep up because I do think in a system that isn’t so transition driven he is just a bad fit. There is distinct difference between failed experiment and a washed player, and I don’t think he is washed.

The cap isn't going up until next season and COL needs that space now. But they also likely need that space next year, if they want to improve their roster. Especially if Landeskog is coming back.
