I think the centre position is going to really hurt without norris, greig and pinto are not feasible 2Cs right now imo

might be a tough ask to get someone who hasnt played C in years to switch back, I think he is a better winger at this point anyways. His skating is not what it once was so leaving him at wing lets him use his soft skill more

I like norris as much as anyone, but this season just hasnt gone great but it makes more sense to shed his contract than batherson (who imo is better). Maybe a trade with Norris for a vet C for example Lindholm, Couturier, hertl, or something along those lines, but that could end up terrible on our end. greig is already looking great and last season pinto looked pretty good for a rookie playing top minutes. I think if you surround both pinto and greig with vets/talent it will show towards their centering ability. But also not apposed to keeping Norris and investing in his defensive play to improve.

Yeah I don't disagree with the norris's season being up and down, but I think thats attributable to missing a year of hockey with a fairly significant injury and overall instability and inconsistency with everyone in the forward group this year. Inexperience up the middle has been something I think has hurt us and i'm just not sure trading away whatever experience up the middle we do have to get even younger is a solution I would want to follow through with personally. Like you say he is young still so getting a vet C to replace him could come back to bite us both in terms of norris progression and potential regression of whoever we would bring in, so to me I think our best bet is to ride with him for the next couple of years to see what he really is post-injury. His 2 way upside is still higher than anyone else we have/could feasibly plug into that 2C spot.

all these posts are just me coping with the outcome of this season. I don't wanna trade anyone of our core guys but maybe thats what makes sense. At least for now trade ufas for picks this year and try to make the most of drafting in the next few years and see whos available during the summer. I like Chabot but unfortunately i think the team parts ways with him due to sanderson and Chych out performing him, but if it ends up in the return of a top 4 RHD and high draft pick then I'm happy.

I am with you on that. If anything I think this season has shown that the teams makeup is not good enough. Lots of talent, but deficient in areas that are crucial for success. at least this gives new management a real eye-opener as to what the team needs moving forwards and hopefully they can adjust

Hamonic is from a town 90 minutes from Winnipeg, and his request out of Long Island was because he wanted to be close to family. Unless you heard something I didn't, I'm pretty sure he'd want to play for the Jets.

Jets don't need him at all though and why would he sign a nmc then?

No the Jets don't need him. The NMC is to protect him from getting traded far away from home. Everywhere he's been traded to has been relatively close to home

Jets have 4 nhl dmen not playing in the lineup bc of our depth why would need more on top of stanley, heinola, capobianco and chisholm?

Not once have I said they or I want him. You stated Hamonic wouldn't waive his NMC for Winnipeg, and I corrected you on that.

Okay he could waive sure but why when he just resigned and has a nmc would look bad on the sens for sure
