Lol. We have zero issue keeping Huberdeau if you think Calgary adds a penny

Are you saying Hertl for Kuznetsov? Why in the world would the Sharks do that.

Hertl isn't going anywhere unless it's a great return, and it certainly wouldn't be for roster player that's far worse than him

Hardest of hard passes on both of those. A 34 yo who hasn't touched the ice yet this year and maybe the worst contract in the history of the league are not helping this team with anything except wasting Leonsis' money

The first trade is Huberdeau for Kuzy. You said swap Hertl for that trade. Unless you mean swap Cooch and Hertl n the second trade, in which case that's laughable.

Less laughable than trading for a 34 year old that hasn’t played a single game this year and is making 8m / till 2026/27. Yeah Hertl will likely get a 1st + prospect. Hes signed till he’s like 37 years old making 8+ million. He has what 29 points like 55-60 point pace? Yes please sign me up take all my prospects. You want Leonard? Lol gtfoh

I didn't say the Cooch one was a good trade lol.

And this is insane how much people try to discredit Hertl by straight up lying lmao. I just commented on another post that said Hertl is 38 in his last year. HE'LL BE 35-36 IN HIS LAST YEAR. He's also on a team that's scoring 2.00 goals per game. His production is a product of his garbage team. It's clear you haven't actually watched him play. In fact, he was miraculously hovering around Point per game for a solid 25 games.

Lastly, there's a pretty massive gap between Lapierre and Leonard.

One thing that is ignored here is that where is WSH going?
With that core, they are not going to suck enough to rebuild.

If the priority is Ovie's goal record, he's not going to get it without a proper two-way center and a playmaker. The money and brand value will be insane if he gets the record - WSH is thinking that more than competing for the Lord Stanley.

Couture had a great season last year, this year if he is able to show that he still has it, he could be an asset. Great two-way play and ability to make his lineys better. The reality is that WSH has barely any assets to move. He has three more years left his deal after this - Ovi two, one extra perhaps to reach the record. When Ovi era ends, they can start rebuilding.

They have the cap space to do both of these deals and still sign a top 6 forward in the off season.

Huby would waive his NMC for an opportunity to play with Ovie.

It makes sense to try to build a proper team for 2-3 seasons and then suck, not stay mid the whole time.
