There's nothing wrong with the price proposed, but Evans is worth hanging on to.
Dvorak and Monahan leaving will make him our top defensive faceoff option. He's +4 at even strength with 70% defensive starts this year. That's the kind of value he brings which will insulate our young centers coming in on the 3rd line moving forward.
That makes him better to keep around than ship off for a middling pick.

That's a fair argument - in that context, I agree.

It's clearly not the only missing piece. I just think 4th line should be a more specialised line rather than a melting pot of all the players not good enough to play in the top 9.

Jake Evans is a fine 4th line center, right now he is ask to play 2nd line winger 3rd line center with player that wouldn’t belong in the NHL on a contending team. Evans is good on faceoff, good on pk, great defensively and will put 20-30 points a season. That better then the average 4th liner. He just need to be surrounded with Big guy’s like Tuch or Xhekaj. Energie winger with scoring touch, that what the fourth line should be. With Evans responsible defensively this is the prototype 4th line that is use in cup contending team.

Someone with hockey knowledge

Okay but we have no one to replace him. Read the comment above to understand why we are keeping him

Definitely no hockey knowledge

Theres many people to replace him. Its called FA. Just sign any random center for a 1year deal until they find a long term replacement

He is just an average fan, he doesn't know how many picks we have

Habs won’t trade Evans. The return would need to be irresistible. Habs have 30 picks in the next 3 draft so unless they received a unrefusable offer they keep him.

After last nigth's game, I retract anything bad I said about Evans ahaha

Not flashy but efficient. That why MTL will keep him unless they received a irresistible offer.
