I'd prefer to keep Seth Jones as a Hawks fan.

Nothing reasonable to be honest.

He fits what we need and even if we draft Levshunov then we'd need both Levshunov and Rinzel to pan out in the long term. I like Crevier, but odds of him being long term aren't high. Just doesn't make sense for the Hawks.

??? Seth Jones numbers, defensively, have been respectable, especially when weighted against his teammates they're fantastic. He's ideally what Buffalocshould be looking for

The only thing I really dislike about the trade is the retention. Outside of that, I think it would be acceptable. I get why @exo2769 would rather just keep Jones, though. It's not really a matter of adding, although, I'm sure there is a point at which an offer would be too good to refuse. You'd have to get Jones asking for a trade first.

This is spot on. We have something like $52M in cap available next year with that Jones contract included. It's not so much about return imo, but rather can Jones help develop our LD prospects into true solid NHLers. I like Jones Vlasic for the foreseeable future. That's a good top pair imo. If Jones starts to slow down...he'll still be serviceable and them a guy like Levshunov (place holder for RD prospect drafted) or Rinzel jump up to that top Pair RD.

Take out the retention and I'd be good with this from the Hawks side. Don't really get that retention amount to begin with?

Yeah. If Korchinski can become a true #1 D, then Rinzel is a likely candidate for RD1. But, if not, we will eventually need to replace Jones, and Levshunov is probably the right archetype to do so. Although, a guy like Parekh next to Vlasic could be deadly pairing, if they can find chemistry. Parekh's offense is so damn good, but that lack of defense is gonna get him in trouble and I'm not sure even the best defensive minded LHD in the NHL could make up for such shortcomings. Parekh is gonna have to at least learn some Hossa/Datsyuk-esqe puck stealing skills to make up for those deficiencies at the pro level.

His Cap hit makes it basically impossible for us though
