    thank you for your input

I gave the Habs 3 elite forwards they need and upgraded the RHD position. All while keeping the main core (Aside from Dach)

That’s a good offer for Pettersson but the Canucks aren’t gonna move him. It’s more about winning than money for him, and he’s got a much better chance of winning in Vancouver than he does in Montreal

I like the bold move for Pettersson, but with that return I think I'd rather just offer sheet him for something the Canucks can't possibly match. Something like a 1x $16.5M and then extend him to something like 8 x $11M during the season. That would be worth 4 1sts in my head

No he doesnt. That Vancouver team is on the hottest streak. Its false confidence. Boeser and Hronek will not be this good next year. Demko will regress slightly. Theyll be a wild card team next year.

Offer sheets just dont happen unfortunately. GMs cant handle the "embarrassment"

3 years of Anderson is worth more than a 1st round RHD prospect with NHL experience and a 2nd rounder. Like they can add a few 3rds or Harris or Xhekaj but not much more

And Montreal will still be a lottery team next year, seeing as they only have two top 6 caliber forwards, mediocre goaltending, and an average at best defense

Hughes and Hronek are better than any Habs dmen

Miller is better than any Habs forward. Boeser arguably is

Mikheyev, Garland, and Kuzmenko are better than any Habs forward outside of Suzuki and Caufield. Hoglander and Suter arguably are as well (as are Joshua and Blueger but they aren’t signed for next year so won’t count them)

Demko is miles better than Montembeault and Allen

We also have pretty good prospects coming up as well

But yes, Pettersson definitely has a better chance to win on the 26th ranked team instead of the 1st ranked team

    Nice try.
    Easy pass for Vancouver.
    Petey is not available.

That habs roster i just made wins more games than the Canucks would next season with Pettersson

Lol there’s zero chance they would. The defense is awful. Savard and Kovacevic are in your top 4 when they are at best bottom pair dmen. Hutson as a rookie may struggle in a top 4 role. Montembeault is an average starter and Primeau is a mediocre backup. You have no scoring threat in your bottom 6 outside of a rookie in Roy. This is not a good roster outside of the top 6 forwards

There's no number Vancouver won't be willing to give Pettersson. They'll give him a blank check and wait to get it back so they can send the contract into the league to be finalized. It's a solid offer no doubt but I just don't see a scenario where Vancouver doesn't retain him. He wants to win and the team is doing so, with a great relatively young core that should be able to compete for the foreseeable future.

This would be funny, MTL paying 4 1st round picks for a year of Petey at $16.5M to walk him to UFA 😂 If he wouldn’t sign 8 x $11M in Vancouver why would he in Montreal?
