Islanders will be last

i disagree. either way, they will probably be cup contenders in 2019 IF they re-sign JT.

Cup contenders. That is a strong prediction there. Get a better arena for the team and maybe JT will want to stay. One player also doesn't make the team a cup contender, if they aren't one now, they won't be for a few years.

Chicago being swept back to back playoffs is not happening. Calgary beating Anaheim in 5 games won't happen either. Chicago will give EDM a run for their money and that Calgary-Anaheim series goes 6 to 7 games.

Provide reasoning

When was the last time Calgary won a game in Anaheim? I know they picked up Mike Smith to help out goaltending but he still isn't an answer for them in the net and will probably cost them some games in the regular season and playoffs. Just like the last 2 times when they have met in the playoffs, Johnny Gaudreau is a no show come playoff time and doesn't register more than 4 points the whole series. I understand streaks can end at any time but I don't see Calgary winning in 5 games if they do beat Anaheim. It will go at least 6 if not 7 games. Also, Anaheim's record vs Canadian teams in the playoffs is very good. The team loves to travel to Canada and win in the playoffs for some reason. Since 06-07 (24-6), Since 05-06 (29-13) in that same time frame they are (12-4) VS Calgary, (5-7) VS Edmonton, (4-1) VS Vancouver, (4-0) VS Winnipeg. (4-1) VS Ottawa.

Chicago is going to come back a little angry. Talbot is a good young goalie but if he plays 60 + games, come playoff time he is going to be a little more tired than other goalies. He is no Pekka Rinne and he does not have the same defense in front of him as Rinne does. Edmonton prevails in 6 but they won't sweep the Hawks like the Preds did.

Chicagos time is up bud. Hjalmarsson and TVR are gone. That's two top 4 dman out Hammer was their best dman at times. Now they're left with the aging Kieth and Seabrook and a young Murphy. I wouldn't call that great. As for their forwards, Hossa is out, and Sharp is no replacement. His time is up too, gonna be a complete bust this year. Towes isn't the same as before and won't be now that Hossa is gone. Saad has come in but is a downgrade over Panarin. Don't forget the Crawford, a pure product of the system, also won't be the same. He relied on his D to play well and now they're really weakened. Watch him struggle this year. To make matters worse, he won't have Darling to help him out anymore.

Now awatt was talking about hungry teams. Know who's really hungry if these two meet? Calgary for sure. Yet as opposed to Chicago, Calgary has improved significantly. Smith and Hamonic, as well as a full year of Stone is gonna make them a Pacific elite. Add in what I think will be great years for Monahan and Gaudreau, Anaheim will have a tough time beating them. They should watch out for Calgary

Did I ever say they are going to win the cup? No, I just said they aren't going to get swept in the first round but they will get knocked out in 6 games. I understand the Hawks aren't who they used to be but they will still be competitive and make the playoffs.

Why should Anaheim be afraid of Calgary? They have owned them the last few years. Both teams are going to be better. Smith makes a lot of mistakes and allows some soft goals as well. Not as bad as Elliott but close. We will see how Hamonic plays out west, maybe he plays great and adjusts to a different style or maybe he doesn't time will tell on that. Gaudreau doesn't show up for the playoffs, he is like Perry. Plays well in the regular season, come playoff time, forgets how to play hockey.

Edmonton is the team to be worried about in the Pacific, they have the ability to do great things in the future and it is starting to show now.

Your forgetting, Getslaf, Perry, and Kesler won't get better by age. Who do the Flames have in those roles? Monahan, Gaudreau and Backlund. They will only get better with more age and experience. Just because ooh, Anaheim beat Calgary the last two times, they will beat them for the rest of their lives! I hate it when people use winning streaks as an excuse for one team not able to beat the other. Calgary only got stronger this offseason and will get even stronger throughout the season as their guys will increase their games. I'd be willing to place a strong bet on them beating Anaheim in spring time

I'm not forgetting that, I understand that. You forget Rakell, Ritchie, and Silfverberg for the Ducks. As their forward group gets better their defensive group will start to decline. You can hate that argument all you want but as a Ducks fan we heard it constantly about game 7 at home and it helps the back certain discussions as well.
I don't think the Flames got that much stronger. In the goaltending position yes, defense I think is about the same. Hamonic is a little bit of an upgrade over Wideman but not by much similar number but could be a good partner for Hamilton.
Anaheim still has a good group of defenders who can shut down the opposing side and have up and coming players as well. Either way if they meet the series should go 7 or it will be a disappointment for the losing side. I still believe the Flames fall short if Gaudreau doesn't show up in the playoffs again.

i disagree. either way, they will probably be cup contenders in 2019 IF they re-sign JT.

Cup contenders. That is a strong prediction there. Get a better arena for the team and maybe JT will want to stay. One player also doesn't make the team a cup contender, if they aren't one now, they won't be for a few years.

I said they'll probably be cup contenders in 2019 or maybe 2020 but only if Tavares re-signs. Even if he doesn't they could be pretty good in 5 years from then or something because they'd be horrible so they'd likely win a lottery and maybe get another superstar.
